hey guys,

I've got a soundstream usa 100w dual channel amp, decent front speakers, a sub & standard rear speakers - should i amp up the sub alone or sub & front speakers for the best sound?

haven't really got any extra cash for another amp, but if i should really have 2 amps, is there a cheapish one i can buy for either sub or spkers? .... should i run them separately or bridge them?

any suggestions would be useful - bit of a novice?

cheers

You could run the amp in tri-mode, assuming it supports that, but I wouldn't recommend it... You'll have to run the sub through a passive x-over, and will not be giving anything much power.

Depending on what your desire is, you could either amp the sub and leave the fronts off the headunit, or amp the fronts and do without the sub.

For my money, I'd get the sub working then add another amp in the future for either the fronts or buy a better amp for the sub and run the ss on the fronts.

Cheers,
Nick.

Cheers for reply....

Also, I have 2 Sony head units
The one I prefer & am currently using doesn't have a subwoofer out, but the other one does - would the other one produce better sound through the sub or is this negliable!!??

Having a sub out normally means it'll have a sub level control which may be useful - but can always be done another way.

Most amps will have a configurable low pass filter so don't worry about feeding it the wrong signal.

Cheers,
Nick.
