View Full Version : Auto Advan Import, Leicester - anyone used them? Kevin Groat 09 August 2003, 22:31 Anyone any experience of buying a car from them - prices/cars look pretty good. Kevin. GC8 12 August 2003, 20:15 I haven't heard of them but I have imported Scoobies from Japan; it can be a minefield particularly if they FOB it for you and then just 'advise' you about what to do after it lands. 1: See the auction sheet or dont buy it; it will describe every mark accurately and establish the mileage. Grade 4 and above is ok; grade 3.5 if its done over 100,000 Km's is ok too; avoid anything else. The Japanese are honest, not everyone else is. 2: See the certificate of deregistration; it must have a model code and classification number on it. If the numbers have been pulled see the translation, it may be because of a non-type approved zorst, but it might not and the car will be un- registerable. 3: Insist on marine insurance; fancy paying to salvage the ship? 4: Expect the car to be damaged by the shippers; after they steal the stereo. 5: Prepare to bend over when it docks: £200 to disembark and clear it! 6: Remember you pay 10% Import Duty on EVERYTHING you've paid to get it to the port of entry, car; fees and shipping and then you pay VAT on top of the combined cost. If they dispute that any of this is the case; its up to you..... Simon |
