can anybody tell me what the best way to remove my tints would be. Ive only had my motor a few months and now ive decided im going to get my tints done again on the backs windows and back window because whoever fitted them for the last owner done a real crap job. I thought id ask first because i dont want to start peeling the tint off the back window and half the heating lines come with it!!

If you were going to get the tints fitted professionally I would get them to remove teh tints for you as well.

I am getting my windows done tomorrow.

I will try and remeber to ask them how you get them off again.

Spoke to the guys at Secur Fix in Basingstoke.

They said that you can get the film off but it will normally have adhesive on and will need to be srcaped with a sharp blade.
He said just think of it as a large sticker.

He did point out that you have to be very careful on the rears to avoid damaging the heating lines.

I would suggest taking it to a professional like secure fix to have it removed.

Thanks for your advice Darren, i think id better leave it to the experts!

I just removed the tint film from a Jap rear screen I bought.

After I peeled the film off, I simply doused the glass in petrol, and rubbed away with a non abrasive cloth.

The petrol breaks up the adhesive and it eventually comes off.

Just don't smoke while you do it! ;)

Side glass sounds quite easy, rear window - with the conductive heater lines - sounds very difficult.

I even found one guy, from the US, had found that the "best" way to remove tints, was to remove the glass from the car, cover the tint in petrol - and then put a match to it.

Easiest way I have found is to gently pull off the film the clean off the adhesive with acetone. (nail polish remover but more industrial)
Nail polish remover works but needs reapplying regularly
