I don't think it'll be too fast/scary, probably a little slower than a 600 superpsorts bike and the handling is a bit softer, IIRC, but still a nice tool. Fancied one of these myself once, but I'm fickle as anything.

Next door neighbour has one of these as his day to day bike.
The guy is 50 something and also has a Trike and various old British sports bikes.Dont let that put you off though,as he is a bit of an animal on a bike, and he thinks his is very good for the odd commute, maybe a bit jerky through slow traffic and a Sunday Blast,He has a couple of scorpian cans as well, which are dam loud, and wake me up every other Sunday Morning the fecker:)..
The other Sundays he wakes me up with the Trike.
Good job I love me bikes, otherwise I would be well Pi**ed Off.
Edited to say,,,,Any 50 somethings with Old Britsh Sports and a Trike,no offence was meant,;)

I actually had a go on a mates TRX on Saturday. :)
Handles ok, the bike felt a bit thin after my ZX6, but it was nice to punt along B roads. Power delivery impressed me, it needs 3k upwards in higher gears or it snatches a bit but once rolling its stompy all the way to 8k+, really breathes nicely up there too, I was quite happy tooling along with it. Brakes were woeful after the modern stuff (same as my old TZR250 had!, only two calipers/discs). Get some loud pipes on it and go hunting, this guy is very handy on his TRX, I have to work hard to keep up sometimes. Mind you he does race classic bikes so he's no slouch.
If its cheap and your not after cutting edge handling I reckon you could well enjoy it.

Thanks for the replies guys ..I think its time to check the insurance..
yep, I owned a TRX 850 when they first came out in '95 and after a diet of GSXR's , FZR's and the like it was a breath of fresh air, the power is really usable and with a good rider on board it'll take some catching on anything. I took mine to the Isle of Man that year and could count on one hand the amount of bikes that came past me on the mountain, I even pi55ed all over my cousin on his GSXR 750, you should have seen his face when he got to the creg-ny-baa and I was sat there with my helmet off, like I'd been there all afternoon.;) TOP BIKE don't let anyone tell you differant, It's OK owning an R1/GSXR1000/Blade etc but in the real world the TRX has more than enough. :)
