phil 20 July 2003, 13:22 Just as ITV goes for a break Man seen running down the middle of the track  phil 20 July 2003, 13:24 Quote Brundle Serious implications for the British Grand Prix manny 20 July 2003, 13:25 Well thats the best excuse Ecclestone will ever have to ditch the British GP..What a nutter!!!! phil 20 July 2003, 13:28 Toyota now 1 and 2 Coulthard 3rd Saftey car now coming in Schuey now 15th Richard Askew 20 July 2003, 13:29 Most exciting thing to happen in F1 for years :D As I said in the thread in Motorsports Forum - bye bye Silverstone phil 20 July 2003, 13:31 Some great action and passing now manny 20 July 2003, 13:32 Nice tackle by the marshall BTW. I would have slipped a few kicks in too! phil 20 July 2003, 13:33 Bet some lawyer will get an injury claim against the Marshal Richard Askew 20 July 2003, 13:35 Glad the guy had boxers on under his skirt.. :D Fairy ;) phil 20 July 2003, 13:35 Not a proper Scot then ;) Richard Askew 20 July 2003, 13:42 No comment !! :D Phil - I foresee Scottish SIDC membership declining with immediate effect LOL ;) phil 20 July 2003, 13:47  Markus 20 July 2003, 14:34 Good reason why F1 should never have moved from the BBC! I *thought* I saw something as ITV went to commercial break. Mad little chappy. Anyone have any idea what he was demonstrating about? Maybe it's Bernie's new idea to spice things up? Or could it be some cunning ad campaign with Jordan, seeing as their car says "On The Edge" on it? They were warning other drives to be on edge! lol :D (yes, I KNOW On the Edge is Benson and Hedges with some letters taken out) Does, as Martin, and others have said, raise the question of security at the track, and as also said, possibly puts a GP at silverstone in jeporady. Hope that the chap has been suitably kicked by marshals, when out of camrea range obviously "sorry chaps, he 'fell' when I helped him over the wall, and it took five of us to get him up from the ground, he was clinging onto the ground for some reason" :D :D No laughing matter I know, if it was not for quick reactions of the drivers, and the marshall, it could have been a very very nasty thing to see. Would have talk the prick a lesson, but also would have caused injury/death to a driver, which is not on. imlach 20 July 2003, 14:57 56 year old apparently - is it the same guy that is always streaking/running on at big events that was on Ch4 documentary recently? thecirsch 20 July 2003, 15:18 He was wearing the Tri-colours wasn't he?? Do you think it was Eddie Irvine trying to get his drive at Ferrari back??? :p :D :D johnfelstead 20 July 2003, 15:38 i cant see that affecting Silverstones future at all. Same thing happened in Germany a couple of years ago. Also Bernie said in an interview it wont make any diference, he is more interested in getting silverstone to build him a marble and gold toilet block for his royal arse to sit on. Silverstone as a race track is one of the best there is, as the GP proved. It's a shame thats not what matters these days, otherwise we would be going to Spa this year too. johnfelstead 20 July 2003, 15:40 I would imagine they threw the adverts because they were worried the guy was about to get killed by a car, you dont want that on live TV, certainly not on a UK TV station anyway. They did the right thing for the sport IMHO, for a change. Chungster 20 July 2003, 15:57 Couldn't believe what i saw! What a nutter. It looked as though he wanted a quick round 1 on 1 with an F1 car too (heading towards the left side of hangar straight for a second) Have to say...excellent GP though. Some of the passing moves were brilliant. Like the bit Mark Blundell showed at the end though..about Schuey taking Alonso to the grass on the 1st lap...."Is that Classy driving Ross??" :D As usual, he gets away with it. anyone else..10 sec penalty. thecirsch 20 July 2003, 16:08 TBH it looked like they were going to a break prior to this happening. It was a bit frustrating as they had 4 ad's on before they returned to the race. Mind you, it would have been like a scene of out Death Race 2000 if there had been contact. How many points for a Peace Protester?? Little Miss WRX 20 July 2003, 16:13 First time I have watched F1 in ages and I have to say that I didn't have much of an urge to fall asleep. Some good moves in that race.....still not enough to make me watch it again though. ScoobyDoo555 20 July 2003, 17:47 probably one of the best races I've seen in years - ironic that it was on one of the "old school" race tracks  The tw@t will not be another nail in Silverstone's coffin - as both Bernie & the Silverstone MD said - it's impossible to marshall every centimeter of the ground (or words to that effect).... You can imagine the personal injury claim...... "So Sir, can you explain the circumstances of your claim" "well, I was running down the track in the British Grand Prix......." W@anker....:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Dan rr_ww 20 July 2003, 17:55 Eccelstone was interviewed after the race and seemed to be not holding the track accountable. Regarding the loony protester with a death wish! As both he and Mosley have said, its not that Silverstone has the worst track/facilities in the world its that it SHOULD be one of the best. All Jackie Stewart keeps going on about is how bad elsewhere (Brazil etc) are rather than admitting that the pits and grandstands need renewing. Over this weekend they mentioned the great access roads several times. Well it was completed last year, (possibly even the year before) so stop harking back and deal with the current problems. Didnt i read somewhere that the BRDC had £50M that they've effectively frittered away on trivial things!! If it leaves Silverstone, it will be a shame, but it wont be for the lack of warning shots from BE and the FIA! (MR) [Edited by rr_ww - 7/20/2003 5:56:40 PM] Derek FKS 85 20 July 2003, 18:38 Sorry guys, but until they reduce the wing area, go back to no electronic gismos at all, steel brakes, turbo's and big fat slicks, I won't be rushing home to watch. It's a bore and no more than an money making exercise for Bernie Eccleston. [Edited by Derek FKS 85 - 7/20/2003 6:39:51 PM] Chris L 20 July 2003, 21:33 Normally Derek I would agree with you. But that race today was amazing. Just as F1 should be - top quality driving from the boys. Haven't enjoyed a GP this much in years. Chris phil 20 July 2003, 21:37 Ditto Just a shame I went Friday and Saturday and not today Phil johnfelstead 20 July 2003, 22:10 steel brakes work just as well as carbon/carbon but they are not as safe so carbon/carbon will stay, the brakes are not the issue. Great race. Steve Sherwen 20 July 2003, 22:24 The man, wearing a kilt, carried a placard which read: "Read the Bible - the Bible is always right" From the BBC Sports website. Bloody fruitcake. Steve phil 20 July 2003, 22:30 What do you mean the Bible isn't always right:eek: Phil:D Rannoch 20 July 2003, 22:34 Top race - so many changes of position - and who would have imagined Toyota in P1 and P2... ...although what strategy was Trulli working to - he was pulling away in P1 - two safety cars later he was P7 :o Really enjoyed the Porshe race as well - especially as at one point a midfielder was coming out of Copse about 3in behind the car and front and then proceeded to push him all the way to Maggerts, when the guy in front lost it! Excellent stuff. BTW timed the Porsche GT3-Rs at around 1.58s - the leading historics with crap chassis, simple old technology and skinny cross-plies were only 6s slower at 2.04s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rannoch Puff The Magic Wagon! 20 July 2003, 23:00 Everyone where I was groaned & hissed when plonker was seen on the track :( & cheered when the marshall got hold of him & pulled him away... How can some f***wit reckon he can get away with spoiling 100,000+ people's day by his stupid antics - got to have been the most hated man on the planet at that time images/smilies/mad.gif |
