Cheers Burt brickboy 11 July 2003, 13:25 There was an article in Ride or Bike a few issues back about them -- at the end of a half day the journalist could do wheelies at will, controllably. They rated them. The big thing is practice (and using someone else's bike so you're not shagging the chain / sprockets / gearbox of your own bike ;)) kenwood 11 July 2003, 15:00 i can do them easy enough on my old '94 fzr 600 just quickly ride up to 20-30 in first then completley shut the throttle then blast it back open. once u get the balance point, flick it up to second, in total its taken me 3 months to master wheelies. DRUNKNORGY 11 July 2003, 15:38 A couple of the chaps on the MCNNinjas (http://www.mcnninjas.co.uk)went a few days ago and they did rate it highly. Here (http://www.mcnninjas.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3362&highlight=wheelie+school) is the verdict. Guinness 12 July 2003, 10:00 But a supermoto,it's hard not to wheelie these things,up in 2nd into 3rd then 4th then 5th,easy mate.............:D Gixer 14 July 2003, 08:05 Did the one at the Wheelie School run by Paul Gower in Hertfordshire. All done on 1200 Bandits-and off the throttle, not using the clutch, and with Wheeliebars, not the electrical cut out switch others schools use. NO ONE can teach you to wheelie in a day, so don't go assuming that you will be doing stand up wheelies at the end of the day. This school gets you to understand how to get it up, and how to stop it flipping. And how to keep yourself safe. Then it is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE and then a little more practice that works. After a short while I managed to wheelie my '86 Gixer off the throttle, something I had never been able to do before. And can wheelie my GT 550 (fekkin' hard to do) I only went because the wheelies I did on my supermoto, usually got out of shape/control. Can now wheelie it whilst feeling (relatively) safe. brickboy 14 July 2003, 08:46 Gixer -- wheelie a Kwak GT550? Bloody hell  I would have thought it would be easier to pop one on a Harley ElectraGlide ... the school must be good then! Seriously, how do you get the 550 up, just on the throttle? leegsxr1000 15 August 2003, 11:24 I learnt with Andy Burnett of Stunt Wheelie School. He is a top bloke and breaks it all down into small parts, which you learn before going onto the next stage. His bikes are fitted with an anti flip device so its idiot proof. Its a top day out, particulalry if you go with friends as there is always some good friendly rivalry. He gurantees that you will be able to do them by the end of the dya or your money back! I did his second course and regulalry pull 2nd and third gear wheelies. Top wheelie speed is 127 mph so far! |
