Hi people,
I've just bought an Aprillia from a Salvage yard (over the phone) and it was descibed to me as COSMETIC damage only.
Noticed the front wheel was too close to the belly pan so I had it into Black's (frame checking/straightening) to tell me what was wrong.
Initially they told me the frame was bent so I gave them the go ahead to correct this thinking it would all be sorted.
Since then they have told me the Frame/yokes were bent and the bottom of the headstock was ovalised. :-(
What a nightmare!
I'm going to try and go back to the salvage yard and try and get my money back as they sold me a right duffer here.
Any comments e.g. am I on a looser?
Regards

arnt salvage sales supposed to be inspected before they can be sold?
In which case it should of been categorised as chassis/frame damaged.
cosmetic damgage is class d i think.
could get them done really...
:)
The laws on your side - they cant classify it as a d and then it turns out its a c or b.. ;)
Go back and get your money back asap - get solicitor involved as soon as possible if they wont budge! Shame you played with the frame!
Good luck

insurance people classify the damage not the salvage yard.
If the previous owner was third party (on a fault claim) or had no insurance then he may have just sold it direct to the salvage yard. I guess in this case insurance wouldn't be involved. Have you HPI checked the bike?
chaos.

Where are the salvage yards? How much could you pay for a duff(ish) 125cc?

You picked a right nightmare...
I bought one a while back to repair, first I thought yeah just track work so just get some track panels and away ya go....
The thing is just so bloody good though I wanted it on the road too.
So took her out in her track state (still road legal though). I got so bloody fed up of guys asking when how and where I crashed I decided to get some new panels. Trust me you do not want to know how much they are likley to cost you.
If you decide to stick with it and need some new panels let me know,
I've I kind of bought too many??? ( I know it only has two side but I got carried away)
Cheers

I've bought most of the panels I require but still need some lever's, mirrors, and a mudguard. The panels I bought had someone Datataging marks all over. The chappy who sold them to me said he would inform Datatool that those fairing were no longer on his bike. I got a receipt so if theres any messing in future I can prove who sold them to me. Either that or I respray them.
