Hey All,
I am seriously thinking about getting bike but up until now have only ever driven a car and so i could do with some advice/information. I am looking for a cheaper alternative to second car and think a bike may be the answer.

1) What test's etc do i need to take to ride one?

2) How much am i looking to spend to get a decent bike to commute on?

3) How does bike insurance compare with car insurance? Is it the same daylight robbery or is it much cheaper.

Any help greatfully received.
Cheers
Ali

1) Varies with age - check out DVLA website.

2) I spent 2.5k on a 600 Bandit. Seems to be plenty about for less though.

3) Get a cheap bike, buy some crash bungs and go for TPFT. Mine costs about £200 on the Bandit, aged 30, just passed. Fully comp would have been around £700 and just didn't seem worth it.
