Wanting confirmation from a few other people that a P1 dash will fit MY93 WRX before I go ahead and buy it. Does anyone know of any pitfalls in doing this and how to overcome/avoid these?

Or does anyone know of a first class fitter who could do it for me and save me hours of hassle?

Not sure how long but the major work would involve the speedo. The WRX is a mechanical speedo, the P1 electric. Not sure if you could fit the electronic sender to your gearbox?

Its been done by 1 person (from what i found out) and i was going to do the same.

Dont bother, to much work.

You also need to change all the heater controls as apparently the earlier ones are on rods and the p1 (or later ones) are mechanical.

To many bits you need to change and ends up costing a fortune

One other thing, when i spoke to IM about doing this trying to find out some info, he said its not worth it.

The new dashes were not built as good as the older ones. They do look better but apparently they creak more.

They had 10 new dashes at their place which they were replacing cause they are generally sh*te!

Sorry old boy but got to agree with the others. From what I do know about the older cars, it's going to be a right b*tch of a job.

TBH your most practical options are either selling it and getting a post-facelift car, or doing something to yours to make it more to your liking.

What about getting it flocked?

Electroflock in Kingswinford (01384 402660) did a fantastic job on my last car, and they'll be doing my current one whenever I can be bothered to get the dash out.

Pluses are it looks nicer (IMHO), it cuts down on cabin noise, and you don't get the dash reflecting into your windscreen on sunny days.

Downside is that, as mentioned, the dash needs to come out for a few days, which is a bit of a job in itself, and the car's off the road while it's out. Still, bearing in mind how long your original project would have taken, I doubt this will worry you too much! ;)

Anyone heard of MRM Motorsport of Aberdeen - have been quoted £200 to fit a new dash (labour cost only). Anyone have any comments on MRM?

I got quoted £300 for an updated dashboard for my MY95 WRX with EVERY part needed to do it. Just your own labour then I have heard

So £300 for every part, and then £200 labour - £500 to change a dashboard! ouch.

Make sue it is every part. I got my dash from a breakers and got it cheaper but it didnt include everything. You need all the heating controls and thats a pain i nthe arse

How's it going. I have already fitted a new shape dash to my 95 spec and it was nothing but hassle. Its the STI version 5 dash your after with the P1 clocks due to fact that the passenger air bag on the P1 dash is not possible to wire in working and the version 5 comes with the glove box instead. Every thing on the new shape dash has to be re-wired from the heater controls to the rear heated window switch which proved to be time consuming and costly. Worth it though for the finished job
