View Full Version : JL W7 subs - anyone interested?
I was at Max this weekend and got talking to a mate. He was telling me his supplier of ICE can get the W7 subs at £300 including delivery (maybe even a bit cheaper). When i asked them why are they so cheap (usually retail around £700-£800)? Have they been nicked?
He replied they havent. They have so many in stock that to their friends, they are getting rid of them at cost price! They sell them on to companies such as ICE shops and then they add their profit on and it gets marked up to the stupid retail prices!
As you know the JL W7 is amazing! Not sure what kind of amp you will need to run it.
I wasng going to go for a big system in the scoob but now im thinking maybe.
Now if this pulls off and there are loads, will any of you lot be interested?
WRBlue-STi7-Prodrive 07 July 2003, 15:33 i would probably interested in one!!
chiark 07 July 2003, 16:23 Suggest you post this on www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb
I would be extremely cautious of this, as the W7 is not really discounted anywhere...
Chiark, this is what i thought. I know for a fact they arent discounted anywhere.
Thats why im trying to find out the details now on it. Ive sent my mate an email and he is finding out.
chiark 07 July 2003, 17:04 From Geoff Dutch - BBG distribution...
we haven't had any go missing as far as i know.
With regards to companies selling them at that price - they can sell at whatever price they want, BBG has a price at which it sells to its dealers who do of course add their profit on to the price, how much they add is at their discretion but for reference BBG's current marketing prices for the W7 prices are as follows :
13W7 - £899
12W7 - £699
10w7 - £499
8W7 - £349 (just starting shipping)
So that's looking good then :D
would this be the 12w7, or a smaller size? I'd be up for a 12w7
200+Bhp 07 July 2003, 22:21 sounds interesting :) please keep me upto date with any developments !
12w7 inc box is 699 on cel-direct!
.derek. 08 July 2003, 00:21 i'd be interested but whereabouts is this place?
what is available and what fits a my01
SlowBoy 08 July 2003, 01:17 Imagine they'd all fit. More a case of 'how many?' :D
are they the most powerful ones on the market now?
do we need stronger locks on the doors :D
SlowBoy 08 July 2003, 02:41 Uprated springs, maybe. An easy and cost effective way of lowering your ride. :)
Yep these ones are the absolutely daddies! May get the subs cheap but then we got to look at gettign the amps cheap! lol
I will keep you posted. Should hear in the next couple of days :D
This is why they are so cheap:
The guy buys them as overstock form liquidating companies..
He gets all sorts in, but he pays less than £150 for them as this is how makes a profit..
Deffo not nicked or 2nd's but limited numbers...
When i spoke to my mate at the weekend, the guy had quite a lot in. All depends if someone has realised a bargain and gone and bought the whole lot.
Also trying to find out what other stuff he has :D :D :D
SyHightower 08 July 2003, 11:48 im well interested. keep us informed!
Cheers
Simon
chiark 08 July 2003, 13:25 Well, you will want about 400 real watts to drive a 12W7...
See chart below from JLAudio.com

Amorphia 08 July 2003, 13:45 Was thinking of a pair of W6's ... not sure what size though, probably 10's to replace my 12 when it dies ... but it the weight that concerns me ...
Scooby96 08 July 2003, 14:20 pic anyone?
Scooby96 08 July 2003, 14:24 don't worry about the pic - just had a look on ebay - theres a nice amp and this sub currently at $2200 on the US site!!!
'ow much for the 10" guv??
Update:
On Sunday the guy had 15 W7 subs - they have ALL gone :(
My mate told me about it on sunday and when he checked yesterday for me, they had ALL gone.
Guess i should have moved quicker.
Saying that, i could have bought all these myself, no one wanted them and then i would try to have 15 subs in the scoob! lol
Well apparently this guy gets loads of ICE as so many companies go under.
Next items, i will keep you posted and get my mate to reserve the things for us! lol
Sorry guys :(
no worries mate, let us know what he has, or his number.....;)
cheers
Amorphia 07 August 2003, 12:58 Aren’t the w7's the ones that can take 2 kilowatts before it invalidates its warranty? Is so, where the hell ya gonna find an amp that puts out that kind power :) 1x 1000.1 dblock per voice coil? (they got 2 or 3 coils?) LOL Forget security, once this puppy is wound up, you wont have any windows :)
