Has anybody had this kit fitted.
If so is it worth it? How close will it bring handling to the standard of the Sti8?

Korky nellie 03 July 2003, 21:44 should be a lot better than an STI8,hardly any difference between standard 7 & 8s. T5NYW 03 July 2003, 23:46 Much improved not to firm as to require a gum shield ;) Looks much better :D:D:D As said in suspension Topics :D Whiteline ADj Rear Anti-roll bar, solid drop links, Anti lift and Geometry  IMHO Tony mutant_matt 04 July 2003, 08:25 Korky, The improvements of the STi 8 can be had on the 7 not by changing the springs but by either fitting the Whiteline Anti-Lift kit or uprated front suspension arm bushes. This coupled with a decent geometry setup will make quite a difference. Then you just need the springs, rear uprated ARB, roll bar mounts, drop links and bushes ;);):D:D:D Matt :) korky 04 July 2003, 23:14 Thanks guys. The mods to which you refer are not Subaru approved - am I correct? What is the cost of these when compared to a Prodrive mod? Where did you chaps have the work carried out? Now I'm off to suspension! Thanks again! Korky oracle 09 July 2003, 11:51 I asked my dealer about the Prodrive springs for the STI7. He told me he had spoken to Prodrive and they said they hadn't been released yet and would be another 6-8 weeks! I asked if he meant springs for the STI8 but he said no. Can anybody shed any light on this? vfg 09 July 2003, 12:18 Yes - same problem - see the related thread! mutant_matt 09 July 2003, 15:21 They have been released, I and several others have them on our STi 7's!!!!! I have heard that people are waiting for the next shipment of springs however as IM have probably run out (they only ordered something like 15 sets the 1st time round  ) Matt :) vfg 10 July 2003, 11:08 Thanks Matt- I also have the Part No. from Mike Wood on the other thread! ARRON BIRD 10 July 2003, 22:33 STI 7 with official Prodrive springs and bump stops and geom. Thanks Mike. Amazing and that is coming from me. I am not easilly impressed but my car has been transformed to the way I feel it should always have been. Worth the wait and worth using the proper gear!!!! Take note after market spring suppliers!!!! T5NYW 11 July 2003, 08:06 Arron, Couldn't have put it any better myself :D Tony korky 11 July 2003, 22:56 Gents, Do the bumpstops come with the spring kit? Do I really need to go the whole hog and go for uprated ARB et al? Korky ARRON BIRD 12 July 2003, 11:28 Korky talk to your dealer in a few months time. Dont hassle Prodrive as the kit isnt available yet. mutant_matt 14 July 2003, 08:50 Arron, I know what the springs are like as I have them but what do the bump stops do and how do they improve the handling? I thought that bump stops are there as a last measure and you should never be running up against them? Mike? Matt :) b5m 14 July 2003, 09:34 By how much do the Prodrive Springs drop the ride height on the STi7? I hear it is 25mm, what is the real drop? I wouldnt want to scrape on driveways, speed bumps, traffic circles etc. ARRON BIRD 14 July 2003, 11:41 Matt I dont think you have these ones mate;) mutant_matt 14 July 2003, 13:12 Arron, Either tell us what you have, or STFU - ok? ;):p:p:p:p:D:D b5, the springs you can buy (that I am talking about), drop the car by about 20mm or thereabouts so you have no issues with kerbs and speed bumps, just like the standard car! Matt :) ARRON BIRD 14 July 2003, 13:18 Matt I dont even know what they are myself mate. Came of some skip shaped thing  Just took my car over and out it came all sorted really. First class!! korky 15 July 2003, 23:27 Guys, Spoke to the dealer today. Springs are available from SUK and are in stock - 48hrs delivery. Price - £400 fitted. Dealer reckons 1hr labour per corner - I thought that was a bit high! Any views? Korky dave-h 16 July 2003, 07:11 mine was 350 for springs, fitting and goem from local dealer Steve PPP 16 July 2003, 14:06 Korky See this thread (http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=229731) Steve W korky 19 July 2003, 00:40 Ta! Sounds as though the price does vary - a lot! Korky vfg 21 July 2003, 20:08 I have just (well 3 hrs, 20 miles & supper out) picked up my Sti7 with PPP from the dealers now with Prodrive Springs & re-tracking. Fantastic improvement - slight understeer lurch into fast or tight slow bends is now a thing of the past - it just goes around flat and fast like a train on tracks! The PPP was a great improvement giving the car the real oomph it should have had from new - the new springs & geom. are also what it probably should have had. However, this is a very, very worthwhile verging on the essential up-grade! korky 21 July 2003, 20:13 Order going in! Korky vfg 21 July 2003, 20:26 Wise decision Korky. Also would like to point out that I have F1 DSG3's on the standard Sti wheels. These even feel almost SO2 like now as per my old MY2000 turbo which used these sadly defunct tyres! |
