Well, my STI has a tracker and I'm insured with the
legionary Liverpool Victoria so their not bothered if the
tracker is working or not.....so my question is....
....do I activate the tracker for £15 a month or not..?????

If it gets nicked and you want it back then I would say YES!

Yup. It's piece of mind that you have a good chance of getting the car back if it is nicked.

if my car ever gets nicked I want it burnt out or otherwise destroyed - it would never again be "my car" it would be "my stolen/recovered car that some toe-rag had diven without my consent"..

Anything that ever subsequently went wrong with it would leave me with the niggling doubt "is that because they thrashed it?" and when you come to sell it on who would want it ??

Certainly not me. I'd never buy a stolen recovered car. Thats just the way I feel about it.

Very blinkered, I know, but I think a car is a personal item. If someone stole my trousers, was caught wearing them and then I got them back I'd never wear them again. Would you? urgh! :)

I didn't want my car back after it was nicked but after having lost so much money with having to hire a car till the settlement. Plus only getting second hand value prices for all the mods I had I would have glady taken the car back had it been recovered.

In total I lost around £6000 after all the sums are done :(

Was about to say yes, but can definately see where Buzz is coming from.

If you're lucky enough to get your car back when it's been stolen, f**k knows how they've treated it, i certainly wouldn't want it back.

Up to you though, if it's not required, and you're not fussy on paying the cash, then dont. But if you want it to be found if stolen, then pay up !

Glad you were happy with the outcome - you at least got all your stuff back (I'm sure others on SN will start with the "what an idiot leaving all that stuff in his car" etc etc if they ahven't already, but we ALL do it to some degree), but I suppose its a personal thing. I DONT want it back. It will always have been stolen, always have been repaired, and never be the same car it was (to me anyway). I'll always know what happened, whether I choose to tell anyone about it or not.

Buzz
I think the SN crew realised via my thread that the stuff wasnt in my car but in my friends flat and the guy broke in and got the car keys.
But i know what you mean about the personal thing on wanting it back or not.I was lucky cos it was only an hour, but i may have felt different if it had been a day or more.TonyG from Nottingham had his missing for nearly a week and i think he had some thoughts on the matter.
My only gripe would have been the money. If i still had outstanding finance on the car and the insurance only paid out on current value, it would have been a real loss...

I have a tracker on mine cos the insuance co say I have to but I wish I could switch it off!

If it ever gets knicked I only hope they wrtie it off before they get caught cos I don't fancy trying to sell a "stolen recovered" car :(

ive no tracker and dont want one wast of money just a scam for the ins co who are the real ones who want your car back .. if mine was stolen i would not want it back you can imagin how it would have been driven the funny thing is there are more and more ins co not giving a discount if they dont specify one and co like liv vic that dont want any security at all .. they say if they are going to steal it then there is nothing you can do about it and alot of the time its been disarmed in a hr or so and all they do is lift it bye bye scooby .... chris
