Bought the CDX-MP40 model from MCS-Direct last week, for a bargain price of £125 (Argos sell it for £199!!) and after a mere 30 mins, it was fitted and up and running.

And 20 mins of that were taken up trying to get the other standard system (can it really be called that?) out.

So now, "I'm a happy camper", with 7 albums of U2 on one CD. :D

Top banana.

I had to buy 2 metal "prongs" that fitted into 4 holes either side of the unit. Push them in till they clicked, and then the whole thing pulls out. (Got them from Motor-world for about 2 quid.)

The metal sleeve in the dash was a bit awkward to get out, and the leads on the back of the old unit were annoyingly resistant to detach...

So basically I need something to poke the 4 holes in, and then it will pull out?

Yup. Seem to be fairly standard parts that Halfords etc would sell. They're U-shaped pieces of metal that you bend to fit the holes.

I'm a newbie in terms of ICE - I had to ask on here what to do, as I wanted to change my own stereo, to save a few coppers... If you can tackle fitting hardware into a PC, then this won't be a problem.

They're called 'radio pins' and fit all standard sized (ie. single DIN) stereos. Like Duck_Pond said you should be able to get some for a couple of quid.
