Possibly a little late on my part but I always understood that the controllers were digitally encoded to the specific head unit, the same as the removable facia? Pretty sure this is the case with my CDX-CA700. Remote is useless anyway, always use steering wheel control, you can do presets without the controller though can't you? I only say it because XRS changed some of mine while trying to turn the CD player on. lol http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/lol.gif

no mate, i have borrowed one to tune in my manchester radio presets but im always up and down the country and need a remote to save other presets, so any remote will work, i have the steering column remote aswell, but i cant store the presets with it.

If your not using you remote and its lying about then id gladly take it off your hands :D :p

As said the remotes are universal... no encoding. The easiest place to get them from is Sony spares, next day delivery normally. I can't remember the number tho. Give the Sony Centre in the Trafford Centre a ring (used to work there while finishing university), 0161 747 2108 and they will have the number.
