I am an enthusiast of motor racing circuits.
Brooklands has ever been my favourite one.
There is a “refurbishment” plan by DaimlerChrysler, but in this web page there is a much more interesting proposal:

Nice idea but never going to happen, not just lots of residents nearby, but some of those residents live on the St Georges Hill Estate (average house price about £6-8m) and are very well connected...

I now live in Weybridge and used to live in Byfleet on an estate that backs on to the course. They still have some event there, and one of my favourite recent memories is of being woken up one morning by the sounds of some 70's F1 cars - not sure what they were up to, but it was great!
Not all residents are opposed, but I know a lot would be - they moan about the karting track and you can barely hear the karts from the car park!!
