Cool

Met up with Neil (who strangely posts as Frazer ) and we took a run in his cup then had a wee comparison of performance was well

Its fair to say those things fecking shift!! Granted it has induction and is chipped to raise the rev limiter and he had taken out weight including the rear bench and he had a dump before he came out but its still bloody fast. I'd expect a standard one to be much about the same. We both floored it in 2nd at about 20mph and it took until the end of third gear before I'd managed to close the small gap between us (he was in front to start) and then till well into 4th before I crept past and pulled back in. It certainly wasn't a comfortable overtake!!! Remembering that my car has a good 50-60bhp over standard and you'll appreciate that a standard MY99/00 from a rolling start is in trouble and a buyeye could be toast!!! All this from a 10k hot-hatch that returns reasonable mpg....I'm tempted, defo tempted!

Rag-it, if your are reading this get your figure out and drive that CTR in anger

Now all I need to do is drive a CTR/CUP back to back

Blue, before you post the footage check that the two black posts on the left hand side (in the verge) are not visible. We started somewhere near the first one and if you can clearly see both we might be in trouble - the reason is that these posts are exactly 1/4m appart and used to calibrate police car speedo's. If they can both be seen a simple speed = distance over time calculation would probably average a little above 60 If you can't see them both them post away

Cheers for the run guys, I liked the cups power delivery - i.e, get her moving in first floor it and hold on It reminded me so much of the VTS but faster.....ah.....memories

Good stuff Our average probably wouldn't have been too bad anyway because I don't recall going to silly speeds. I'm suprised you don't see my gearbox pack up its bags and leave in the first video because that is the worst gear change I've ever made....CRUNCH!!!!

Agreed, although I didn't get back on the gas after the 2nd/3rd change attempt - just coasted! Even a crap driver making pants changes at the wrong time would be enought to lose to a well thrashed cup!

Btw, Neil in comparison to the scooby did the cup perform as you expected or better/worse than you expected?

I've had a dice with a Cup in my WRX and it shocked me, we went from 60 mph (up to 70, obviously ) and I only started to pull away over 5k rpm and I didn't pull a lot!

Rapid little cars, shame they're made by Renault, I also have a Clio Si and it's a peice of crap from the build quality/reliablity point of view and I hate the dealers with a passion. If things were different, MrsREV would have a Cup for her birthday

MY93 import with full Scoobysport and HKS SPF induction (but knackered coils so only 249bhp with flat spots )

[Mr Burns]Excellent[/Mr Burns]

You didn't answer my good/bad/indifferent question

I thought the scooby would do more in the first three gears which it didn't really so that came as a shock. I suppose your car has good power to weight for sprinting in the lower speeds. At the top end the extra bhp showed where I expected the Clio might do better. I guess last night was an interesting physics lesson for me

I can post it now, but, me being a numpty, I forgot to turn the exposure up on the camera and since it was gettting dark it is hard to see. I was also going to blow it up a bit coz I held back to much at the start! TBH the vid is a bit crap but I'll post it anyway.

You will need to dload the latest WMM and when your playing it turn the contrast up to full!

**** I can't do **** all on this computer as its my flatmates and he set me up as a user and not an administrator - depsite the fact I know more about them than him

Actually, we had a 'computer' arguement last week and I made the decision to replace the impreza with a cheaper car and a beefy computer that puts this pathetic effort to shame

Unless someone can convert it I'll have to wait unless the work system plays it......which I doubt

I think the thing with the impreza is mainly the distance gained from the start from the 4wd... And if you slightly gained on the cup eventually, what would the gap of been like from a standing start.

Alot of light cars with big engines will keep up with a scoob once rolling, but from a standing start most FWD cars will lose a bit of time.. and the impreza would keep this gap once moving.

Why not try a standing start e.t.c i.e a true 0-100mph dash...

Dan

For acceleration the cars were pretty well matched in 1st and 2nd gear and then in 3rd I started to gain a little with the major damage to the cups lead in 4th (i.e illegal speeds). Whilst its true that a launch would gain me a full car length over a well launched fwd how often do you launch out with crail/pod/york? I'd NEVER launch at traffic lights, etc unless the other driver has specifically intimated an intention to play (i.e wound down window and said so) If I was set at lights next to say an M3 I'd let the clutch out floor it if he/she did but if you launch and they drive normally you'd look the biggest spaz ever Critically if kept on the boil then in the twisties speed range 20-80mph the cup is fecking quick.

Gutted I can't see this video, I assume the braking bit is a wind up

All this said I'm still chuffed with the scooby being able to get past. It takes a reasonable advantage to actually overtake a flat out car
