Have got bored of looking at cars, nothing really does it for me in my price range so I have decided to do my bike test and keep my trusty MK2 Golf GTI.

I have booked the theory test and will book the CBT next week but I am really after advice because I find the whole prospect a little scary, not really the test but the thought of having something so fast and potentially lethal. Are they that scary to ride, my only experience of a fast bike was a CBR 600 after doing my CBT last time(abortive attempt to get full licence in 93, got married instead ! never took the full test), to be honest on the CBR I found it easy to ride but when I opened it up in second I nearly papped myself and a 1990 CBR isnt considered a fast bike anymore

I would like to hear your experiences of getting a bike, how, when why etc ?

You also don't have to jump striaght on a 600! they're probably the highest power/weight ratio vehicles out there... start off on something a little more practical, and work you way up.

It deosn't take that long either to gain control. Think about it... you could ride a bike at age four... and the principles are the same. Now you just have to gain confidence in your tyres, bike handling, and yourself for that matter.

Good to hear there's another one about to join the brotherhood! *smile*

Yeah its wierd what the TT does to you, to be honest I came back sick of the sight of bikes and then a week later the urge hit me, now have the Theory booked, CBT booked, a helmet (dont feel qualified to call it a lid yet) and a knackered Suzuki GS125 !

Cant wait but also find it very scary, but I suppose a bit of fear isnt a bad thing with bikes, healthy respect for the current (albeit not perfect) shape and number of my legs.
