Has anybody replaced the standard upper spoiler with one of these? The one I have bought (MRT) does not have the removable lugs in the upper surface to allow vertical tightening of the fixing from above.

Advice would be appreciated.

I haven't got an STi wing, but I have asked the question you are asking.

I've checked out a number of STi wagons in my area, and it appears that they're secured by two metal brackets on the lower part of the wing (they go around the outside of the hatch), and also two bolts that go THRU the glass.

Would be interested to know how you get on!

These 2 official STi spoilers seem to have the holes.... :confused:

Yes - thanks for the pics. The official one fits like the OEM spoiler. The one from MRT (much cheaper) does not have the holes, so it seems needs fixing horizontally with OEM fitments and vertically with adhesive. Apparently this is a common way of doing it - I am still investigating.

Do MRO do both back wings?

Interesting. I am looking for the lower spoiler or decent pair for the rear of my WRX import MY94 wagon.

Any ideas, sources and prices of these? Subaru seem to want like £1300 for a OEM set, IIRC!

I know that both spoilers were offered as aftermarket additions in this country, and my dealer is investigating whether they are still officially available. (Price unlikely to be good)! I was hoping to get a fitting kit to try, but obviously the kit would not help solve my problem fully, because I don't have the right vertical holes. The adhesive used in Aus is called Sikaflex (industrial strength rubberised adhesive) - I'm going to ask my dealer's bodyshop on Tuesday about this stuff, to see if it is a suitable alternative as a reliable fitting method. Perhaps someone reading this will know something?

WR Sport still do the rear spoilers, but they're over £1k!

try asking at Jap Innovations, they are official dealers for MRT.

i remember them telling me that they had put one on a wagon recently. good lads too.

On the Sikaflex. I used to work for a company that used it to stick windows into VW transporters back in OZ, it is good stuff and will easily hold a rear spoiler on. Don't get it on your hands though as it takes several days to get off.
