Well, in a nutshell - it was absolutely awesome. FQ 300 version, so 'enough' power
but the way the thing handled had me reassessing the validity of my Scoob ownership.
Decisions, decisions.....

But is it as well balanced as the Evo?
The suspension was firm, but well-damped, and the thing just flowed round corners.... It seemed to be so much more in tune with the road surface than the Scoob.

And it's UK supplied, with full Mitsi UK back-up & warranty....
And main dealer support....
And I like that weird purple/grey....
And the front looks better than the MY03 Scoob....
And I think I'm answering my own question....

Harry Boy,
They are JDM cars but come with warranty.
Autocar test drove the 'C' Spec and quoted that 'feels like it will go round bends at 290mph'. Seems like a stupid comment but I know exactly what he means by this.
Unfortunately I have never driven or been in an EVO so I can't really compare the two.

Harry - Same dilemma here. Have some inheritance coming in August, which will be more than enough to justify swopping the STi7 for an EVO8. It's that or change the wife's Scenic for something a little more fun(and better on fuel than the Scoob) like a Rav4.
I'd go UK too, however not sure whether the EVOVIII has the same head turning capacity as the VI did, or the Scoob has.
Flame suit at the ready.

Hi Mate,
Judging from the looks yesterday, I'd say the Evo 8 can turn heads pretty well. Or maybe it was the full bore take off from that junction thru to the top end of fourth
Whichever way, it's a truly awesome machine.
And, by the way, we had a Scenic and the Scoob for a while last year. Good combination....

Hi Mate.
I expected rubber instead of cogs from what I'd read - but it's actually pretty slick. It's very close in the gate between 4th and 6th, so you have to be careful not to get 3rd when downchanging from 6th.
Otherwise, the box is slightly less 'mechanical' than the Scoob, and therefore maybe 5% less precise/positive. But, to be honest, it's absolutely fine.
You'd only notice a v slight deficiency if you drove 'em back to back like I did. And then, there's so much else to appreciate and (let's face it, marvel at) on an Evo!

I`m another thats gone over to the darkside and i havn`t regret the choice one bit! I like Impreza`s and the flat 4 engine notes are the best engine sounds around but the Evo wins hands down on everything else!

Hi Mate - I'm starting to believe it.
It's just the zorst note that's seductive about the Scoob - that's the main thing that I'd miss.
Otherwise, the dark side is reeling me in....

Guy at work has a lightly modified FQ300 - very quick motor. In fact unbelievably rapid. Destroyed and I do mean destroyed a new M3 who was trying pretty hard. OK the guy at work can drive, but it is an awesome car. Straight line, curves, you name it. I doubt there are many cars that could stick with it. Most impressive - interior is still shabby - makes a Scoob look good and the small fuel tank doesn't make it an overly practical car (and it still sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle when you boot it
), but I guess if you were that worried about this you wouldn't buy it in the first place.

bumcrack, in fact, unless anyone wants to correct me, the Evo 7 and 8 have a 55 litre fuel t(h)ank rather than the 1 to 6's 50 litre. Which although doesn't sound alot, might make it a more realistic option for some people.
Personally, i'm yet to hear of a compelling reason *not* to get an FQ300, apart from the flat four engine noise...

Hi.
It's worth mentioning that an fq evo is only running low boost as it is basicly just an exhaust and air filter mod. Wait till you change the ecu and run a boost contoller then expect 350bhp. That's more like it

Yes, Evos have a smaller tank, yes Evos need filling up more often, no they dont use more petrol (it's just the tank), yes they need more servicing, yes they are faster, yes they are more expensive, yes the interiour isnt as nice, no, I dont give a fvck I have both
LOL
it all comes down what you need / want from the car I guess: more everyday / safer / easier to drive go for the scooby, more of a raw machine go for the Evo.
