Question

What does the OE knock sensor produce on a MY96 UK turbo?

Is it a voltage above a threshold during knock, some sort of waveform or something else?

Thanks...

Dave,

The actual sensor is just a microphone.

Read this for some good background.

The ECU filters the waveform and reacts (or doesn't) to specific frequencies/amplitudes.

Thanks.

I was hoping to avoid signal processing - never did get on with it at Uni.

I'll get reading. I just want a simple test to find out if the sensor is working...
