OK, as I've just lost another fog light, I best sort myself out with the covers I've been meaning to buy for ages. So the question is, without spending 200 sheets on geniune ones, which supplier sells the best replicas, in terms of price, fitting over standard fog lights, and general fixing method etc.???

I need the MY00 ones BTW.

I picked up some proper STI ones in our very own Scoobynet For Sale forum! Bargain at £50!!

A quick respray and the fitting kit from GGR and all done for less than £100 for the proper thing!!

Did the GGR fitting kit allow you to leave the lamps in place. If so was it a hassle (or would it be for a total numptie), and would the covers be easy/quick to remove and replace.

Been toying with getting some of these for ages, but don't want to have to remove my fogs to fit them.

I asked you the same question a while ago, I found out that I had to remove the lamps before the brackets would fit correctly

Undo one bolt from the fog light, put on bracket and do up bolt again!

I would do that would mean taking it off the car!

It's basically an 's' shaped piece of metal. One side has a hole for the bolt to pass through, the other side has a threaded hole for the screw that holds the cover in place.

Steve do you know what the fitting kit comprises of, is it for a classic, and are you using it with fogs 'in' (I'm assuming for that money its different to Andy's GGR kit)

With the ones I ordered, its the bracket that the bottom Fog Lamp bolt fits onto, which then has another screw hole, which the fog lamp cover srews into

I have the Fog Covers from Derek at ETS, and I still have my Fog Lamps underneath the covers, mine is a MY00 Classic

When I bought my covers they didnt come with any clips at the top, so I fashioned my own from B&Q for a few quid, and made some to fit the bottom, as I didnt have the Fog Cover brackets then

I should have them on Wednesday all being well

I'd been in touch with Derek before, but he didn't have a supplier for the brackets. I guess the question is, if I buy some of Derek's cover which are a blinding price, does the GGR or Subaru fitting kit enable these to be fitted straight on.

It sounds like the bottom fitting definitely works ie. the one you put a screen through, but do either of the fitting kits come with the two top fittings, and do these fit straight on too Derek's covers without being visible from the front eg. rivets etc.

Who'd have thought that fog covers could be so difficult...

 

I did like the look of the MRT ones, which at £45 including fitting kit seemed a bargain. But they never reply to my emails asking how much the shipping is from OZ

 

AFAIK the actual clips for the top of the Covers are actually part of the fog cover itself, Derek has now (again AFAIK) is now supplying the covers with some top clips that he has had made up

Yes you would think something so easy would be so simple, but mine sat there for 2 months before I fitted them LOL

I just got some small right angle brackets from B&Q and screwed them in to the fog covers, and they slot into the holes in the bumper, although for the bottom ones, I had to drill a very small recess (which is already there) in the bumper

Now they fit snug over my fog covers, and you cant see the screws or brackets

I have ordered the official ones, as I now have some P1 Fog Lamps & Covers that I want to fit on for the winter

when you ordered the lower brackets from your dealer for a fiver, have you got the part number by any chance. I just phoned the dealer to order some, and as soon he heard the word "STi", he said "ooh japanese import, we can't supply these". Tried to explain that it was a UK car, I'm just putting STi covers on. "But the current STi covers won't fit a UK car, sir". Aaaargh! All he could offer was foglamp mounting brackets at £13 + vat each.

I gave up at this point. Help!

 

Just ordered mine from jap Innovations (MRT Ones I think) they do the early and late cars.

£65 incl fitting kit

Just got to paint them.

GGR are rip-off merchants IMHO.
