Where should I put my cd changer in my wagon?

It's a Sony 10 disc jobbie into a 2000my wagon, the glove box and under the seats are out due to size so it looks like the boot.

Soooo, do I leave it where it is mounted, athwartships (real word) in the back, just in front of the brake light access panel?
Or stick it to the back of the rear seat in a little MDF box for protection when the seats are down?

I'm erring on the box idea unless anyone has a better suggestion as it's a bit exposed right at the back of the boot.

Dave

Edited to say: If I go for the box option, where can I get some carpet to match the interior???

10 disc kenwoods do fit nicely. Sony's dont.

I put mine vertically on the left side of the boot. It tucks quite nicely in there (in line with the direction of travel of the car). It actually works quite nicely as you can fold the boot tray up to protect it a bit.

Hmmm shame I got Sony really, thing is I wanted to have the same make as the other half's car as the controls are similar, have been reaching for the non-existent steering remote for the last two weeks and end up making strange light signals at people when I'm trying to get me 'Darius' turned up!

I'm presuming the changers have to be mounted upright (ie you can't stand them up on end??)

If you're listening to Darius, putting it on it's end might at least improve the sound !! :D

I don't think so though, no. The same thought occurred to me when I fitted mine.
I'll try and borrow a digi camera if you like and take a snap of it in position.

Cheers, I'd appreciate it,

I suppose I could always shell out for a sculpted box for the offside and put it in there along with an amp, with a sculpted box on the nearside with a sub, but that's a long way and about £500 in the future!

I managed to get a Pioneer 12CD changer under the passenger seat of my MY96 wagon.

All well and good PHD but I'm fat and I'd probably squash it.

Just been out to measure the Pioneer unit for you (and it's raining, as ever)

85mm high x 255mm wide x 175 deep

cheers mate, will have to probe further under the seats, isn't it a pain to get to having the changer under the seat?

If it's like Chrome's sony unit, it really won't fit.

Passenger seat is the best place for a changer IMHO. Get a decent brand ;)
