View Full Version : Infinity 605se's Tweeters BAH 09 April 2003, 21:08 Going to get a pair of the 605se's as everyone on here raves about them but what of the tweeters i have not seen them mentioned, do they just fit in and replace the excisting one's...? BigRed 09 April 2003, 21:29 Existing Ones? What existing ones , my scoob never had tweeters fitted to it, if you mean in the grill next to the door handle that is. I have the 605's fitted and the tweeters are fitted on the small triangular bit next to the window, bit of a bugger to fit there but they lift the sound field up that little bit higher. BAH 09 April 2003, 21:40 I have a MY98 UK Turbo and there are allready tweeters in the door handle souround.... chiark 09 April 2003, 21:44 Someone must have fitted 'em - they don't come as standard. There is a Subaru tweeter kit that is laughably priced at 99 quid... The 605s shoudl come with woofer, tweeter and x-over. BAH 09 April 2003, 21:49 Must be the subaru kit then as they plug into a socket in the door panel....... So is there a better option considering i already have tweeters by just fitting the mids or will the infinity tweeters replace the existing ones.... BigRed 09 April 2003, 21:57 Fit the infinity tweeters , they will almost certainly sound better then your existing ones, the infinitys do come with Woofer, tweeter and x-over with a 0db and -3db for the tweeter mine are on -3db to kill a little harshness. People have fiited the mentioned tweeters behind this grill using duct tape, but this seems a rather crude way to fit ICE, much prefer the earlier method that i mentioned. chiark 10 April 2003, 09:50 NONONONONO YOU CANNOT JUST FIT TWEETERS! Sorry to shout, but if you try to just plug a tweeter into that cable, you'll blow 'em as soon as you put a signal there. You need to add a crossover and tweeter. BigRed 10 April 2003, 18:41 Sorry chaps . half asleep last night you MUST use a x-over with tweeters otherwise same as chiark says it will be goodbye tweeters. JockyTT 09 May 2003, 16:49 To hijack this thread slightly, I am doing the same thing, but in a MY02, which does have tweeters installed already too. In the factory install, would there not also be a crossover that would require removing first, before fitting the one that comes with a set of components, or by removing te factory tweeter am I also removing the factory crossover? JockyTT 09 May 2003, 16:57 I suspect I amy be answering my own question here but on further examination, the factory tweeter has a capacitor attached which I am assuming works as a simple crossover. When this is removed I assume I can connect my new tweeter (inlcuding new crossover of course). cheers Steve DJFish 09 May 2003, 20:54 When I had a Rover 200 (don't laugh) it had empty tweeter grills in the panel by the door latch, I got the factory twitters as they clicked nicely into place and were more or less where they needed to be. They had the capacators already attached so I was able to just splice them onto the existing cable to the main speakers. Suprising how much difference they made. Dave |
