I've just had it confirmed that several motorsport events have been postponed due to the recent outbreak of Foot & Mouth disease, the main two rallying ones being:-

-Malcolm Wilson rally (Sat 3rd March)

-Rally of Wales (10/11th March)

What a sad start to the season,I was really looking forward to the above two, still I supose the infected cattle & farmers are not HP either ! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

I'm well annoyed that they have had to cancel the Malcolm Wilson rally, although I understand why. It's our local event and they were planning to run the stages in the opposite direction to normal. First time since the Group B days so not many people will remember either seeing or competing on them this way. Plus all the snow up here makes things very interesting...

I have just had this confirmed by my brother who works for some of the major rally teams that most of the rallys for the future will also be canceled.

Thats a shame.

My thoughts are with anybody on this BBS within the agricultural industry who are involved directly or indirectly.

The incubation period could be up to three weeks before they see how bad the epidemic is. The government want foot paths closed off now as well, thus effecting kids playing in fields etc etc. Whats scary is they have no idea where the virus actually is-Thus the daily checks http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

The disease is so easy to carry-Its a virus that is carried on shoes etc etc...It can also be carried by wind-By water and can infect all areas. It really is a quesion of closing off all potential sources of the virus....i.e the areas used for rallies http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

They are now considering closing dartmoor park-thats proper big.

Its getting worst, horse racing is soon to announce their plan to suspend for up to a fourtnight.

oh man!!! that sucks!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

i feel for ya... we get the same crap well sort of... over here...

we have had rallies canceled because of Salmon... yep... fish... seems they fear the washout from the cars going by will end up in the local streams and rivers if it's raining too hard... and that that will affect the Salmon life... eh??

anyway.. we've lost 2 events due to that... cuz you know it rains in Seattle!!!

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif feel for you...

knowing a farmer on Dartmoor I can see why they would want to close it, there is an awful lot of common grazing there. Most farmers generally also have there own fields but the grazing in those would only last a limited time with all their stock on them. It will spread like wildfire on dartmoor if it catches hold http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
