View Full Version : Will Schumacher take the championship at Suzuka? AWD 06 October 2000, 21:38 8 Points ahead, 2 races to go. What do you reckon? Friday practice lap times: 1. M.Schumacher 1.38.893 2. M.Hakkinen 1.39.669 Paul N P 07 October 2000, 01:22 Hope Hakkinen wins and Schumacher goes out. Just because we all love a last race head-to-head? Come on Button! Dave T-S 07 October 2000, 16:32 Hope Schumacher wins and Coulthard takes Hakkinen off (not that Coulthard's in the championship any more but what the hell it would make me laugh!!). Bored with it going down to the wire year after year! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Dave T-S (edited 07 October 2000).] AWD 07 October 2000, 17:01 Grid positions for start of Japanese GP: 1 M.Schumacher 2 M.Hakkinen 3 D.Coulthard 4 R.Barrichello 5 J.Button 6 R.Schumacher I'd like Schumacher to win and clinch the championship for Ferrari. If he can't do it this year he'll be wondering what he has to do to win. 5 years with Ferrari, and no win yet. AWD 07 October 2000, 17:03 ... but then again I am biased as I don't want Hakkinen to equal Fangio's record of three Grand Prix Championships in a row. Dave T-S 07 October 2000, 17:08 Can't fault you so far AWD - so I must be biased as well!!) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Dave T-S (edited 07 October 2000).] Chris L 07 October 2000, 17:34 Who'd have thought you would have found so many Brits rooting for an Italian team with a German driver http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif (especially after this afternoon at Wembly http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif). However, I agree - Always been a massive Ferrari fan I would love to see them do it tomorrow. I don't know what it is about Mclaren - everything seems very mechanical and robotic with very little passion (I'm sure there is, it just doesn't show through like it does at Ferrari) Chris AWD 07 October 2000, 18:17 Chris I know what you mean. Ferrari do seem much more human in their celebrations, failings, successes, etc. McLaren (probably doesn't help that Mika Hakkinen is a grumpy so and so) do seem fitting to have grey as their colour. Mechanical, business-like, boring. Also I don't think that Hakkinen is a great driver - more that he is a good driver in an excellent car. Also he has only become a good driver in the last 3 years - before that his Formula one career was pretty nondescript. Come on Ferrari! Carolyn T-S 07 October 2000, 20:54 Chris L - 'mechanical & robotic' - even Coulthard looks like Kryten! Come on Schumacher !! [This message has been edited by Carolyn T-S (edited 07 October 2000).] Chris L 07 October 2000, 22:07 Carolyn http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif I was forgetting old 'square jaw' Chris http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Chris L 08 October 2000, 08:03 Well Done Boys!! http://smilecwm.tripod.com/big/biggrin.gif Dave T-S 08 October 2000, 08:04 YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Chris L - damn - beat me you bu66er - I know what Hakkinen feels like!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Dave T-S (edited 08 October 2000).] Kev 08 October 2000, 08:35 Great race, so pleased for the team, they have tried so hard over the past few years, too hard some times in my view but they have their reward ..... oh and I suppose he won his third world championship as well ... well done Ferrari http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif K Chris L 08 October 2000, 08:47 Sorry Dave - Obviously just that little bit quicker with the refueling http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Definitely worth getting up at 6:00AM on a Sunday morning for. Chris Dave T-S 08 October 2000, 08:57 Chris Yes well worth it - refuelling - sure you didn't jump the start?? Must be read the papers and a snooze on the sofa this afternoon to catch up!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Chris L 08 October 2000, 09:02 Dave I can't believe you said that - me? Jump the start? Next thing, you'll be suggesting that I would deliberately drive into someone to win a race http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Chris Dave T-S 08 October 2000, 09:10 ChrisL LOL - Sorry guv didn't see you in my mirrors! - Or drive into someone and stop them winning it - Zonta was a bit close to Schumachers back wheel!! Chris L 08 October 2000, 09:22 He was in my blind spot, never saw him.. Anyone want to make a guess on the size of Schuey's contract for next season? Probably get the Pope to give him a sainthood as well http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Chris schuey 08 October 2000, 23:57 Schumacher wins in Japan. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Did anyone else notice that everyone on the front couple of rows followed Schuey and shot across to the inside of the track? Good to see Button and Herbet getting good finishes. So next year, 3 way battle between Schuey, Mika, and wait for it, Villeneuve. Schuey again for me!!!!!! All I need now is for R. Burns to win the WRC. But don't we all? AWD 10 October 2000, 14:32 Great race. I couldn't believe it when Hakkinen went into the lead and maintained it after the first pit stop. I was sitting there and DOH!!-ing away. Then.. the rain started falling... and the rest is history.... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif I wish Murray would work out that F1 spelt backwards is one F - not IF as he keeps saying. And then Jim Rosenthal says (when they're all celebrating with champagne) "This is one case when they're allowed to drink and drive". .....err no - they've done the driving and now they're drinking. Sorry ... it's just that he annoys me with his stupid comments. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
