I can!

I had my car (de cat MY01) on the rollers in January.
I paid £30 to be told that I had no boost until 5K RPM,then only half boost being produced with a power figure of 216!!

The possiblities on the day IMO were:
1. I'm a total thicko who didn't realise his car was kippered.
2. Someone couldn't work their RR.
3. Someone fancied trying it on to get some extra work out of me.


Considering I was offered the chance to return at a later date to get my car sorted out and the car was running perfectly fine anyway I know which option I think! ;)

Since had it tested on the new Delta Dash software which works out BHP and it showed just short of 250 which seems about right for the mods done.

Was only £30 so not a major trauma and it was an excuse to meet up with a few from here again.

I was also at the same RR as BEW. My power was reading slightly lower too. I think his back rollers needed a bit of adjustment. The power wasnt coming from the back wheels. Maybe I should have brought a couple of fat birds and put them in the boot to help get a bit of traction.

Interesting about the Delta system BEW. Where did you get that done? Wouldnt mind getting it done to prove T7 wrong.

I also think he was scouting for business but I dont like to suggest such things.

Was quite funny when the operator was asked to explain the readings and walked off !

I think when you see a fan which only blows into the radiator at the front of the car. (not very suitable for cars with a top mount intercooler)

The bonnet lifted...no airflow directed over the intercooler and a plant sprayer used to give a quick mist of water over the intercooler after the car has sat running for 5mins on the rollers :rolleyes: it says it all really.

What about your tyre pressures they were higher than you expected though ;) :D

Sloaner if you're anywhere near Coleraine in the not so distant there's a guy there with the Delta Dash set up,can't remember his name though! ;)

I've seen pics elsewhere on here of RRs with air vented directly into the scoop of a CLOSED bonnet which would probably do away with the need to get the Greenfly sprayer out!

Sloaner what about your kippered back diff they told you about? :eek: and don't be greedy 1 fat bird at a time in the backseat! :D

3 months later and the diff is still holding out and thats after all the snow too!!! Think i smelll a rat as well as fish. Suppose there is nothing wrong with looking a bit of business but not infront all those people - thanks mate "once again you`ve managed to embarrase me in front of real people Dougal"

At least all your cars made it home in one piece. I know of quite a few people who have visited 777, and not been so lucky, although I have never been there myself, and certainly dont intend to. ( unless its to break his rollers....wonder how much power they can handle? :S )

Just because someone has a rolling road, does not mean he has the knowledge, or ability to use it as they are designed.
If he is resorting to spraying things onto the intercooler, then obviously his fan setup is totally inadequate for any performance cars.

Does anyone actually have any good reports about him, as any I have heard have been all been bad.

have to admit stevie, seemed a bit ramshakle to me, but hey what do i know. i was a bit surprised as well at the water spraying onto the intercooler as well. makes you think about the stress and strain that you put your motor under doing one of these things. also the number of cars slipping out of the rollers and his remedy of getting big fellas (like me) to sit on the front of the cars just doesn't seem right. how is the leggy goin btw. will have to get back to michael sometime to get me bits n pieces fitted.

Have any of you or stood in front of the fan, sure the air flow isn't up to the air flow at 125mph but it is fair enough, and yes it isn't of perfect design for scoobs with their unusual placment of the intercooler but what do the scooby tuning gods in the UK etc use for theirs? I haven't been to one.

I can't speak for anyone else but I only posted up my experience of Triple 7.
I presume you helped organise this RR day and best of luck with it,it's just that I saw no benefit from doing it and wouldn't do one again.

There is nothing wrong with spraying water on the intercooler, as mentioned the STI has waterspray as standard but it it no subsitute for air flow through the intercooler when the car is on a power run.

How much effect do you think a spray mist of water has when the car has sat running for 5mins gets sprayed with water and then sits a while longer.

The fan is not suitable for any car with a top mounted intercooler as it is fixed and cannot be angled, it faces down so that air flow is only through the radiator.

Any RR I have been at puts the bonnet down and has a suitable and powerfull enough fan which can be angled to provide a good airflow over the front of the car through both the radiator and intercooler scoop.

I would be interested to see intake temps and knock correction while the run is taking place.

No offence taken of course, I am helping to organise the RR day but owe no loyalty to triple7.

Jonathan, we are planning to log, with delta dash, the power runs, I know it has knock correction loging but don't know if it has intake temp.

Possibly there was too much of a variety of cars/crowd on the last day there and mistakes happened! ;)

ps am I really gonna have to join the ISDC to find out a date as it's only 10 minutes from home? :D

Andy, intake temps can also be logged...are you putting your car on the rollers.

I dont think there is anything wrong with T7 or their setup, it was a good day out.

I think the point here is that it may not be that suitable for a Subaru, Your car and the other Turbo'ed cars that went on the rollers all had front mounted intercoolers so there was no problem there.

Subaru and more so the newer models create a lot of heat and need cooled efficiently.

ps. definately not having a go at T7 so hope it doesnt look that way :)

The relevance of the numbers there mean that if the operator doesnt know what he is doing, as you seem to suggest, then you would think there would have been a lot more complaints.

There were 4 Subarus tested on our day, not 3 and a host of them tested with the RS Owners Club and no one had this problem. Very strange.

We will support the SIDC event as I hope everyone here does. So lets see how it goes and then maybe we can make a moreinformed decision on Triple 7.

I never suggested they didn't know what they were doing anyway,more hinted that they tried it on to get some repeat business.

I don't need to make a more informed decision,it's of absolutely no consequence to me what they get up to.

not me Andy, which is why im alittle concerned, doesnt delt dash log ignition retard due to knock from the ECU's own sensor?!?

fivepint, deltadash can be used to log knock correction and also ignition advance.

Knock correction is the value the ECU is subtracting from the main ignition map to try and combat det, so the main ignition map won’t necessarily show as a retarded figure but it will be reduced from max (optimum)advance.

Ideally you don’t want to see any negative knock correction.

Does that make sense :confused:
