Yup ! i got a good quote from liverpool victoria, of 690 over the phone. received my details on paper today and it has jumped up to just under 730 !!!! 38 pounds of insurance tax at 5% !!!!! what is this and why did they quote without it

It's a government tax on all insurance policies
car/house/holiday - you cant avoid it :(
bit sneaky of the insurer not to include it in the quote....
