PS2 when is it going live on the net?

Anyone know about this? I have already seen xbox live up and running and it was impressive but heard that the PS2 should be going live at the same time but haven't seen anything advertisied on this.

Also any idea on cost of the hardware needed to get it on the net as well?

Could be. Suppose it depends on the number of beta testers and the results of the testing. Suppose it will be Christmas time if the X-Box times are anything to go by. The X-Box retail kit has only just been released.
