Stuart, the weird thing was we never really planned to do it !
Got a bit lost in Germany and the suddenly there is a virtually empty stretch of Autobahn and the F40 nails it and keeps going ...

So naturally we do the same - 8500rpm in 5th gear, so there was only another 3-500 revs left!

The high boost would have got us there quicker, but also put us in the boot of the Ferrari. Still 8500 in top is 8500 in top regardless of the pressure being run.

What a weekend....

Thanks to Matt for the organising etc....and Rich for sorting my trip etc.

Friday was a top day, couldnt believe the weather at the track or the number of cars,
never seen so many cars there before. Had a couple of good laps before a reasonably early
evening leaving Sabines bar at 2am, where was felly and Stef when you need em !!

Saturday was bitterly cold with a little snow falling, why does it snow every Easter.
Thanks to Tony in his E46 M3 for a very smooth lap, what a car, with SMG he was able to
change mid corner without unsettling the car. Fastest timed lap was with Harj at 8.42 in
his new standard STI 7, was a bit difficult holding the video camera in the back on some of
the corners but I managed to tape it !!

With the weather getting colder I had visions of loadsa snow, myself, Chins and Harj decided
to go to Amsterdam for Saturday night. It took 3 hrs to get there from the Ring and a further
2 hrs to find a room. Was worth the hunt as we ended up in a suite at the Sheraton !!
Little did I know that I was only sleeping there for 2 hrs the next day. If you get a chance
you must go to Amsterdam, what a place. We all ended up in a gentlemans club that was said
to be the best in Europe, if not the best it was the most expensive ! A decision made after
a few interesting experiences... Thanks Harj, I owe you more than a beer or two now mate..

Leaving Amsterdam it took another 3hrs to reach Calais, well Harj was asleep and I was
driving !!! Slept well on Sunday to get up Monday and wax my new Clio Cup, why oh why didnt
I take it to the Ring.... Oh well next time.

Good to meet some new faces, including one 10week old baby !! Sorry Jen I never got chance
to baby sit...

Paul, you is one lucky bloke, most people expect an F40 to run higher boost to do a true 202mph.
I understand there will be a Video of this to come soon, PLEASE.

Back at last!

What a great time I had.

I drove down in convoy with Sonu. Only entertainment was when a Lupo decided that his car was quicker than a Skoda and a M3 coupe. I reckon if he'd driven any closer to Sonu he'd have been in his passenger seat.

Thursday, I thought I'd put in a few cheeky laps. Chased down a Swedish WRX, as I passed him at about 120 I misjudged the camber due to being off line at Pflanzgarten 4 at proceeded to do a flymow impression at 45 degrees to the track. Luckily I managed to hold it and rejoined the track with no damage other than to my pride. My passenger at the time created his own tracks, glad I don't do his laundry! :D Only managed 6 laps before it was time for tea.

The rest of the weekend was uneventful, but jolly good fun.

Highlight of my weekend was being allowed to drive Mike's Escort round the Ring. :D Awesome, I just love the power and the brakes, especially the brakes :D Can't think why he didn't want to swap it for my Skoda  :D Other thanks have to go to the Mini Cooper driver who let me take his car round for a blat, that really was a hoot, not much power, skinny tyres and nice and chuckable. We even managed to overtake stuff in it :D Also nice to be allowed to drive the Uber Luxo Barge, although I really think he should have let me do a lap in it :D

Nice to meet some new people and see some of the old faces and no major incidents. Those that there were were minor and I'm sure they'll polish out.

Now looking forward to the next trip.

PS Ralf, change your tyres! :D

Hi Jon

I'm glad that you got home safe. It was a laugh driving up on Thurs :) I'm sure that the Polo had nitrous :)

I must say that the Tavia 1.4 is a great buy. I'll have to grab a lap with you mext time.

When's your next trip planned for? I'm thinking about Aug or Sept.

Thanks

Sonu

Wow, what a weekend, baby Caitlin was christened at 10 weeks with her first ever lap round the 'ring. I think her first word will be "car"!

The F40 is slightly tuned - up from 0.8 bar to 1.2 bar for an approx 520bhp as opposed to the standard 478bhp and is JKs old car (yes, he of stupid hats and naff songs fame..;)). Both Jen and I were lucky enough to get a lap proper round the circuit where we hit a GPS confirmed 172mph down the back straight! :D

The highlight though was a scary four up lap with Gareth Lloyd at the helm of my 400bhp Cossie, he blitzed the time he had put in for the F40 and scared the crap out of a Megabusa that wasn't checking it's mirrors!

Looking forward to next year again or maybe later this year, as Caitlin has the bug for it now... ;)

Jon, sorted;)

Still I think my little cars brakes were much more impressing. No matter what image other makes have in that respect:D

On Sunday I talked to the little white Suzuki Swift 1.3, you know which one! Well, to the driver of course. The car is almost standard. Most of the interieur is still in, but it has yellow Konis and Eibach springs all round. The discs are standard again, with Pagid(sp?) green (or blue?) pads. The tyres are semi-slicks as seen so often that weekend. Again the engine is untouched with 110 hp only. But you made 220 km/h? - Yes! He has about 70 laps and was surprised to see you still following him after Hatzenbach.

That's the 'ring !
