View Full Version : Kall Kwik Rally Anyone?
STE.W. 10 February 2003, 14:02 As above, any one going?
As usual We'll be there in the high speed hearse. Silver Legacy with pimp tints etc etc.
Dont know stage times yet but am asking people that should be abe to help.
Its in and around Dalby complex on Sunday 16th.
Just thought I'd let ya know.
Ste.W
ATC 1 10 February 2003, 22:46 Definately going,I think Alastair Ginley in the Focus WRC is going to give Steve Petch in the Accent WRC a run for his money for a change! If you get any stage information, start times etc.. would be grateful if you could mail them to me(as per profile),otherwise will have to rely on info in the programme, which will probably only give 2 or 3 stage details!!
BOB.T 11 February 2003, 00:51 I'm going:D:D
There is a website somewhere, prolly a link from www.britishrally.co.uk (http://www.britishrally.co.uk)
I'll be in a Fiesta with a battered fron end, puma alloys, clear rear lights and BOB.T stickers in the side windows:D:D
STE.W. 11 February 2003, 12:14 Have asked one or two marshals for help with times and as mentioned above the times are for "spectator designated" areas only.
You could always try "stealth tactics" and box round the areas to find your chosen veiwing points!!

Ste.w.
STE.W. 11 February 2003, 12:23 News just in......
Bickley (deepdale) 12:00
Staindale 9:45
No mention of Gale rigg though. Pi$$er!
Hope this helps.
Could someone be a daling and give grid refs for all the stages?
Go on you know you want to!!
Ste.W.
ATC 1 11 February 2003, 13:08 Cheers for info STE.W,are you sure start is 09:00 as the web site has the start down as 10:00,although 9:00 seems more feasible!Stages that are known are as follows:
Langdale
Dalby
Staindale
Newclose
Bickley
All we now need is all the start times to configure which way round they are starting,my hunch is for a Langdale start.
Keep trying for stage order and start times STE.W I will try and sort some map refs out for you.
STE.W. 11 February 2003, 13:29 ATC the 9.00 start would appear to be the flagging off bit.
The first car time of the first stage given is 9.45 @ Staindale which I think is using Mikolas bend ... I could be wrong.
(I usually am!)
It'll be onto the usual wood yard bits and bobs I would think from there.
As I have them listed, it looks like this...
Staindale first car @ 9.45.
Newclose """"""""" @ 10.06
Bickley (Deepdale) @ 12.00
Newclose 2 @ 14.23.
Let us know what you think!!
One of the lads I know is in Ryan Champions local m/sport club. I'll ask him to see if he can scrounge the times from him.
Ste.w.
ATC 1 11 February 2003, 17:26 Get hold of that man!!!By the way Mikkola's bend is not on Staindale,it's on the Newclose(Dalby) stage and not very good these days due to being cautioned.Look forward to sharing more info, there must be only us three going!!!
STE.W. 11 February 2003, 18:22 ATC at least the parking should be ok if only 3 are going!!
Good news so far.
Theres a presentation at the M/Sport club tonight and my mate is going to try and get all the info on the stages and let me know.
I've been told they are marshaling on Allendale? He doesnt know the time but will let me know asap.
Wasnt sure about Mikolas bend never been there me self but stood just down from it on the De lacy at the back end of last year.
There was a plack marking the death of a rally driver / co driver some years ago just near the junction!
Steep climb / walk to taped off area if you know where I mean.
Parking was near the kiddies playground and barbyQ area.
Will keep y'all informed. (well 2 of ya anyway!)
STE.W.
STE.W. 12 February 2003, 12:26 ATC, no news as yet on the confirmation of stages etc but I will know one way or the other tonight.
We did the same as you a couple of years ago and went to Pickering start for information on the stages.
We ended up at Langdale but had to walk miles and missed the first 5/6 cars - not good.
Will probably head for the forest drive entrance for about 8.30 ish and work it out on the hoof from there.
I've got maps and stuff but if you do have any grid refs i twould always help.
Doesnt look like the Legacy pimp mobile will be back from the garage in time so I might use the works van instead - shame though as I like using my car for rallies, it makes it all the more fun!
Cheers and all that.
Ste.W.
BOB.T 12 February 2003, 23:50 Is the forest drive entrance to one you get to via Thornton le dale?
I've only been to Dalby twice, the Trackrod and the gravel sprint, both last year. We watched from the woodyard most of the day then I wandered chuffin miles up to a series a hairpins, that was cool.... haven't a clue what any of it was called though:confused: Is most of the rally within Dalby.... semi reasonable walking distance?
Anyhoo, I'll no doubt find somewhere to watch:D
Cheers
Bob
ATC 1 13 February 2003, 12:17 Bob.T entrance to the main Dalby complex is via Thornton Dale.

[Edited by ATC 1 - 2/13/2003 11:18:59 AM]
STE.W. 13 February 2003, 12:33 Sorry chaps, no new as yet.
Bloody football / drinking last night and got the phone call from my club contact when I was out.
By the time I got in and the condition I was in, I thought it best not to pester him or his parents!
I WILL contact him today and post what I know.
Well done ATC on the detailed information. Youve done us proud.
How did you manage to get this info then?
Best Regards
Ste.W.
ATC 1 13 February 2003, 12:47 By going into kall kwik list of contact names and british rally website plus info you provided, just Langdale to complete the picture.
STE.W. 13 February 2003, 14:39 Dont know if this is any good but just looked at the Kallkwik site and theres a bulletin1 page with some info. Ive chopped this sentence from it:
STAGE INFORMATION The following Special Stage: SS 8 - Langdale 2 will operate the Red Flag Procedure in the event of a major incident occurring.
Might be another part of jigsaw your looking for?
Ste.w.
ATC 1 13 February 2003, 14:50 If that is the case STE.W I reckon they are running Langdale twice, after Bickley and Newclose 2 so that both times they come out onto the A169and drop down into Pickering.
STE.W. 13 February 2003, 17:02 ATC, could you do me a big favour and let me have general information and the stage entry points for Bickley/Deepdale and Langdale.
I've probably been to Deepdale before but cant remember.
I've deffo been to Langdale as we parked at the carpark at the Hole of Horcombe (sp?) and walked miles to get to the stage!
Can we get into Langdale from within the Dalby complex?
Hopefully within the next hour or so I'll have info from my mate.
I've also e-mailed the Langdale marshal and asked him for help.
We will see.
Good work my man.
Ste.w.
ATC 1 13 February 2003, 17:16 Which map are you using?I am using Explorer 0L27,1:25 000 scale,2.5 inches to 1 mile,mega detail.Are you using Landrangers?
STE.W. 13 February 2003, 18:30 Yup, Landranger maps for me.
news just in ..... Langdale - no entry as army are on the stage!
10.30 ish, Langdale 2 15.00.

Langdale 1 @ 10.30

ATC 1 13 February 2003, 22:13 STE.W which stages are you planning to do,may see you on them. Are you going to Pickering early on to pick up a programme.Excellent stuff getting the Langdale times.
STE.W. 14 February 2003, 09:52 ATC not sure yet, been that busy trying to obtain info, I havnt even thought about which ones yet!
I've also had a crank shaft seal go on the Legacy and had to have a cam belt change cos of it so my minds been else where.
So much so in fact that I've actualy forgot to take tother halfs valentines day card home last night --- Dead Man Walking!!
I'm gunna have a look atthe info at lunch time and I'll post back.
I've been advised that Bickley/ Deepdale has a big time car breaker corner on it. My mate is reckyin the stages on Saturday and will let me know where to stand. I ve also been told to have a crack at Langdale (park up and find a way in) was his advice!!
I'll e-mail you my phone number off line so If you want to speak to me on Saturday evening or on route on Sunday - give us a call.

STE.W. 14 February 2003, 16:53 ATC, no worries mate. Having nightmares with the car repairs so still havnt looked at the planning yet.
BOBT nice one on the clicky. I use this site all the time, it usually has all the info I've ever needed (to get a start anyway)for spectating the rallies.
Have a gud un people.
STE.W.
BOB.T 15 February 2003, 19:12 It's easy to make things click, just click http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/images/edit.gif on my post and you'll be able to see how it's done;)
I hope it's as nice as today in Dalby 2moro, I haven't seen a cloud all day:cool:
Have fun:)
BOB.T 15 February 2003, 20:04 I've just had brief second thoughts about going.... it's quite a drive from here and I'm a tad skint but I've just seen the entry list (http://www.boblodge.free-online.co.uk/ENTRIES.htm) :D:D:D see you in the forests:D:D:D
Alistair Ginley has withdrawn his Focus WRC though:(
Dremel 15 February 2003, 23:05 I'll be there, car 87 if you can wait that long - give me a wave, you'll have plenty of time as I'm not that quick !!
It's a Daihatsu Avantzato & chase car is my GTB (fastest chase car in the North)
Dremel.
BOB.T 16 February 2003, 21:50 HOW COLD!!!!
Had a fantastic day despite the cold, saw some great cars giving it large, I think I've even managed to get some good photo's too:D:D
Dremel, didn't realise it was you but I think I took a photo of you on stage 7, on the tarmac leading up to a 90° right onto gravel.... it was quite sunny so if the shot comes out it should look good! I was mega impressed with the car then it let out a big chiss and I was even more impressed:D:D:D
Off to bed now cos I'm knackered:D
