Get some track days in if its bought & paid for. It will persuade you to keep it for sure:D. Good mate had one (98) and I did a few miles on it. Nice bike but was standard. Now non standard as the kid he sold it to wrapped it around a tree:(

what's all that spare rubber for ? track day on an rs250 should have it rubbed up all over...nice bike though ...sold nmy rs250 2001 y reg for £3500...you'd be best keeping it cos you won't get what it's worth.

:D it gets used more for going to work than going round corners, hence the nice flat bit in the middle

i get the feeling i wouldn't get much for it now, payed 2500 for it 4 or 5 years a go i think

seems the cheapest around are about 1600 quid, does anyone reckon it would go for 2000, considering the spec and spares?

Kev,

Most important thing would be what the service history is on it and when it had it's last rebuild. Also you didn't state mileage/kilometerage ;)

If that was done recently and given the spares (engine, gearbox et al) then I think that 1800-2000 would be reasonable.

Not the time to sell right now though, perhaps in a couple of months when silly season starts.....

Great looking bike though and one I've always hankered after.
Cheers,

Simon

mileage is an odd one, didn't come from japan with a speedo, so i had to get one off a scrapper, the one off the scrapper had 8000 miles or so on it, now has 10000 miles on it, so really it has only done 2000 road miles in 4 years, i would of thought it would of been only used for a couple of seasons max. back in Japan and rebuilt a few times over there, so engine condition should be still top notch, just need to convince the buyer i'm not talking rubbish

Kev,

Don't suppose you have any more pictures of the front of the fairing do you?

Also not terribly keen on having premix, how easy is it to put the oil injector back in place?

Cheers,

Simon

premix isn't as bad you think, anyway, it's not backwards compatable because the oil injection points on the engine have been sealed

not sure if i've got any pics of the front, i'll have a look though, it's just a race fairing with a running light in the position you can see on the photo above, no idea if it's legal or not :p

try ebay, bikes seem to sell on there.

Mate sold his old Cagiva 125 on there and got a better price then he thought.

Wouldnt mind this myself, never seen one but they are supposed to be alot of fun.

Just checked out your ad, to be honest mate your asking too much money. Being modified and an ex race bike is not going to get you extra over a standard bike. Infact probably less. The engines are fragile enough in standard form let alone modified. Also it's 10 years old now, they were only £5000 new, so £2200 is too much. You might well get lucky and find somebody willing to pay that much, but check ebay and they go for a lot less. Lovely bike to ride tho, very different to the Mille. Different riding style. 250's are wicked round little country roads, have to be worked hard but very rewarding. I sold my '96 chesterfield in May for £1200 to give you a comparison.
