Unhappy

I've recently got myself a Compaq Armada 100s laptop (OK, OK the guy had big windows). However, I have 2 problems with it that are irritating the cr4p out of me.

Firstly, how do I set the mouse pad to not take a tap on the pad as mouse left button click. I gather this stops working if I swap round the 2 mouse buttons, but I can't work back to front. I keep blowing myself up when playing minesweeper because it's too sensitive and clicks when it shouldn't.

Secondly, every now and then the whole thing locks up and I have to switch off/on to resume what I was doing. If this is a power save thing, why does it happen when plugged into the mains?

As a techie, I know I should RTFM, but why break the habit of a lifetime of never resorting to the manual? Also, real men never read the manual.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Nothing to do with your question but do you have a brother called Anthony?

Cool

I certainly do. He's the one that drove around with a W*NKER plate on the back of his car for a few days...

Not only is he still married to the "Czech bird", but he drives a Czech car, a Skoda.

His latest job is as a lorry driver. Spends most of his free time mucking about with computers. Has a stereo in his skip that could make your ears bleed.

When was the last time you saw him?

the mouse problem is probably due to a mouse TSA thats set to double click (is there any mouse icon on your taskbar?? if so then double click it or right click it and change properties, should be able to disable double click, if not go thru control panel).

when you say it keeps locking up, can you do anything eg mouse CTRL+ALT+Del??? if not then it may be overheating???

Dom,

Thanks for the advice on the mouse pad. I'll give that a go tonight.

As for the locking up, it doesn't respond to anything except the on/off button.

Cheers,
Jerome.
