Attu 24 January 2003, 21:45 Thought Colin did well for his first time out in action in the car and i dont like the rear wing on the Scooby :( Andy Dark Blue Mark 24 January 2003, 21:49 They are all limited to 300bhp. Think they have monster torque though! MB Deek FKS85 24 January 2003, 21:57 300 my a...! Thats what the official reg say but I would bet the teams get a different story I would think at least 350-375 would be a bit closer. scoobydu 24 January 2003, 21:57 Thought the scoobs looked **** hot!!!http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/silly.gif Cheers Al 58GT 24 January 2003, 21:58 don't suppose Solberg'll let me have the rear sway bar off his? Prob be the only bit worth having and I do need a new one. Trumble 24 January 2003, 21:59 What can I say - brought me and my boy to tears! T. scooby_si 25 January 2003, 01:17 i doubt the 300bhp limit is quite as bendable as the 280bhp japanese limit  Si Dark Blue Mark 25 January 2003, 11:06 The 300 is not exceedable. As part of the regulations the cars all have a restrictor in the air feed (32mm?). It wont be very much over 300BHP. See the thread in general "How much power has...." Get your facts right. A number of years ago they ran 500 BHP + Audi quattro's etc... There is no limit on torque AFAIK. MB [Edited by Dark Blue Mark - 25/01/2003 10:08:40] Sprint Chief 25 January 2003, 14:53 Runour has it Toyota were running a bit more than 300bhp a few years :D  But then they did get done for cheating... john_s 25 January 2003, 15:49 The regs say 300bhp, though i heard a couple of years ago that the focus WRC would make about 360ish. I think they did it by having the engine run excess boost for a short period on acceleration. Presumably then if the FIA dyno test the engines, over a run it will settle at 300bhp. I'd guess that if FMC were doing it, they all did, and i don't recall any major WRC regulation changes in the last few years that might have changed this. John. RallyMarshal 26 January 2003, 00:12 Sorry to correct you all, but there is no 300bhp limit on the cars anywhere in the regs. The cars run a 34mm inlet restrictor that effectively limits the amount of maximum power that can be extracted from these engines. When they were first introduced, the figure was around 300bhp. However later engines were developed further and I believe the last spec Corolla runs around 370bhp with monster torque. The trick with the cars is not the maximum power but the power band of the engines to produce close to that maximum power/torque. The works teams dont release dyno figures for their cars but a friend of a friend ran a latest spec Corolla in 2002 so thats how I came across the figures. Paul.. Sprint Chief 26 January 2003, 01:56 Info was picked up from a post on General: http://rally.racing-live.com/en/ And click on the "Teams" link from the menu on the left hand side of the screen. Basically all cars claim 300bhp, with some variation in torque. |
