How do you mean "what's wrong with it"?
Sure, looks bloody silly, but if the wind tunnel says it works, who are we to argue;)
brucelee 24 January 2003, 01:24 true, true.
Though looks like it fell from the ugly tree, and landed in that tunnel!
Crush 24 January 2003, 01:27 Would you prefer it if they kept the old one & sacraficed a few points too? :p ;)
t888-sti7 24 January 2003, 01:35 Word has it that it stabilizes the car on the road and on the jumps far better than the previous one
speedking 24 January 2003, 01:35 Function over form, yeah, but OMG those wing mirrors LOL.
Claudius 24 January 2003, 03:37 Just saw this wing IRL at the shakedown, looks very nice and I suppose efficient.
Those WRC Scoobies look really nice! :)
TheScooby 24 January 2003, 05:30 Ah, the old piggie on the mirrors:):) I personally am happy with it, both looks and hopefully performance.

prodriva 24 January 2003, 09:21 Obviously works though cos Petter is second at the mo. Keep it up boy.
D6ale 24 January 2003, 09:28 what about the wing mirrors!!!!!!
Gizmo555 26 January 2003, 00:43 Its shaped like that so its easier for Tommi to pull it out of the snow.
Chelspeed 26 January 2003, 13:07 The Pogo 206 added lots of vertical strakes last year. According to the blurb that was to keep some useful downforce when you were sideways. Until then all windtunnel work was with the car in line with the airflow so wings only worked at their best in a straight line, OK for F1 not so good for a rally car. Now apperas that Subaru have followed suit. Not too surprising, Pogo didn't do too bad last year did they?
Ford had a very similar wing to the Pogo on the Focus in testing, pickie in MN last week, but they're not running it at Monte. Perhaps it's waiting for a new homologation.
p1 tud 26 January 2003, 16:10 spoiler = ace :D
mirrors = pathetic!
GSM21 26 January 2003, 20:48 as for the spoiler i say rater points than looks on a functional rally car.
oh and Tommi should be issued with a shovel to keep in his car at moment, to dig his way out of the scenery.
Chris L 03 February 2003, 13:57 I was trying to find a couple of pics for anyone who hasn't seen the new car - these are the best I could find. New car does look much better in the flesh. It was real shame they crashed out before we had a chance to see them.

springbok 03 February 2003, 14:49 Yep apprently new spoiler creates more downforce when car is sideways, which is nice:D

aspera 05 February 2003, 08:39 Aside from letting the wing keep on producing downforce, wouldn't the vertical vanes act like rudders to directly force the car from spinning out? Even on a very slick surface where the rear tires loose grip and downforce is useless, the vanes would help keep the back end in line...that is until they "stall".:) Also, the vanes reinforce the upper wing element. It can be thinner and weaker, but still make as much downforce.
Is there any rule that would prevent side extentions of the rear fenders?
