OK, I know it's a terribly vague question, but how much will it cost to decorate a 3 bed semi from scratch, ie carpets, light fittings and paint? I'm going to paint it myself, but Carpets I'll leave to the pros. Carpet area is roughly 700sqft. I expect to pay london/southeast prices.

£4000 top if you are going to do it all your self.

Thanks Chris, I'm not really DIY friendly so carpets will be done by the pros. I think one of the tricks with DIY is to know when NOT to DIY!

We can paper, then paint a room for about £100 DIY. Lights, probably £100 a room max. Carpet, probably £1000.

I would budget £2000 max for the job, including paint, prep materials, carpets lights etc.
