I am converting my loft into a bedroom. The loft has stairs up to it and is a spare (junk) room. I am putting a radiator in the loft. The central heating feed and expansion tank is currently on the floor. I presumme that the tank will have to be higher than the top of the radiator in the loft? What is the minimum height between the top of the radiator and the bottom of the tank that i need. If different, what is the recommended height above the radiator.
Thanks very much
Michael

Hi...There is no minimum distance for the height of the tank above the highest radiator, but you should bear in mind the pipework layout/design of the cold feed and vent pipes. Also is the existing pump going to cope with the extra head of water it will have to circulate..?

thanks Mog.
the vent pipe and cold feed join the system in my bedroom (where my hot water cylinder is), the one below the attic ie currently the highest point of water circulation is in my bedroom (in my cupboard). the pump is stituated 9 inches below this point.
Will/could having the attic radiator (and hence the circulation) above the currently highest point of circulation of this layout/design - be a problem despite having the feed and expansion tank above the radiator?
the pump may need changing because after i have drained the system, to get it to flow to one radiator, i have to turn all the other radiators off, then turn them back on one by one and all is okay. Which make of pump do you recommend/
Thanks again
Michael
