Cheers :)

Fizz,
Bought 20 gold plated ring connectors, £16 fecking quid.
£1 each to you then ;) :D (you'll be needing seven + one larger one for the main battery terminal (not priced up that yet either))

may have enough cable to make one kit, still not thought about cost though,
much less hassle if I could just sell a few blocks :(

David,
want to see the rest of the workshop?, just for jealousy's sake :D

Ummm.... anyone fancy posting an on-topic reply about DIY earth mod, rather than just about pretty pictures of big tools? ;)

Like - have you guys seen a noticeable difference? If so, where? Smoother running? Car audio? Etc?

Thanks :)

Sorry Rich, http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/otn/wink/thumb.gif

probably only turned the stereo on about twice in the last 7 months of ownership.

Exhaust note is the only Audio I need. :D

Mod was done at the same time as new link ECU, so a little difficult to quantify if it made any difference.
got 255 horses now instead of 232. ;)
I bow to Bobs knowledge, when he tells me that it was a worthwhile idea...so from That I guess it works ???
no R&D done by me, that's Bobs department. (Bob Rawle that is)

Andy

a mate has got me camera images/smilies/mad.gif...must go and repossess ;)

Fuzz here :D

round a mates to borrow his digital camera as mine has not returned yet. images/smilies/mad.gif
So pics will be up in a mo (when his batteries have charged )

Going back to the question of whether the mod does anything....get this :-
I put the earth block on last night and made and fitted the final three cables that were not fitted on the first attempt.
Now the car has developed a glitch in that it tries ticking over at 2000 rpm....now tell me the earth mod does nothing :D
will have to get Bob on the case I think...:( more money ;)

Andy.

I was assured by Bob when I was round his, on friday that diconnecting the bat won't "re-set" or change any setting within ECU, so I cant blame that... :(

I've heard people talking about this - would anyone mind answering a really stupid question and telling me how this works? What's it meant to improve? :)

...didn't have much luck with search...please ignore me if I'm missing something obvious :)

Thanks

Had a hunt around for you Jen, this is what I managed to cut and paste from various sites......

From HKS site.
--------------------
improved idle and drivability are often obtained as the additional grounding points equalize resistance and voltage between various ground points.

From Scoobymods site.
--------------------------
The key behind this modification is very logical. The accuracy of how a sensor reads data from the engine and transmits it to the ECU is directly related to the amount of electrical noise that interferes with the sensor itself.

Looking at the stock grounding job it's very easy to see where improvements can be made. It's also noteworthy, that the stock grounds (as with any grounds) will deteriorate through time. So doing this is a good thing.

Now remember, this isn't going to give you any sort of horsepower increase (though it's arguable), but it will smooth out the way the car drives and feels.

From jp-earthing site.
----------------------------
'97 IMPREZA ??? Vr?
Effectiveness? Good starting and idling stability of engine. Engine torque up at low and middle speed. Getting a better accelerator responceat 2 and 3 gear. Boost up
Mileage: 0.8?1.5km?L ??
Owner's comment: E/G starting is much better. Boost is good at over ????rpm.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'98 IMPREZA ??? STi Vr5
Effectiveness? Good starting. Engine torque up at low and middle speed. Getting a better accelerator responce. Getting brighter on head lamps.
Mileage: 1.0km??L ??
Owner's comment: When I saw the Earthing System, could not believe it and I felt expensive for cost. But it is incredible parts. Because Good starting. Engine torque up at low and middle speed,Getting brighter on head lamps, Mileage up.I am waiting impatiently for ioining next dart traial race.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'?? SUBARU IMPREZA WRX.Atype
Effectiveness? Good starting. Engine torque up at low and middle speed. Getting a better accelerator responce. Getting brighter on head lamps.
Mileage: 1.0km??L ??
Owner's comment: Engine torque up exactly. It was bodily sensation.

Hope that helps :D

Andy,
Can I have the same?
I already have the cables and crimps! Just need a neat way to fix it to the bat:)

Quick question for you guys:

Where do you fit the one for the Alternator?
Is is to where the alternator fixes on to the manifold?
My alternator appears to have no Neg return? Does it use chassis?

This is the only one I'm stuck on, all the other connection points are self explanitory.

Cheers
