Hi All,

Just about to lay vinyl flooring in the bathroom. The room is odd shaped and the walls aren't staright, but I've sorted that out no problem.

However, the pedastal for the sink is causing me a pain. The position of it on the floor is well measured but I need to cut the right shape/size hole in the vinyl flooring before laying it.

Is there a sure fire way of measuring odd shaped items and transferring that to a bit of vinyl before cutting ?

Cheers

Ian

Make a template from a stiff bit of card, then use that to mark and cut the vinyl? At least if you knacker it up, you just get another bit of card...

I would make a template with some cardboard. dont try to make a template of the whole pedestal base, just to one side of it ( assuming the pedestal is symetrical).when you are happy with the fit you just flip the template.
have you tried lifting the pedestal clear of the ground enough to slip a pice of card under to scribe round?
I used to have to do this regularly in my old house so that that i could remove the pedestal to get to the u-bend, so i could get my contact lenses back.
