I have a very old back boiler and over the last couple of days I have noticed that the rads are now no longer that hot. I have bled them but still the same problem. I suspect that the circulation pump has backed up. However as this boiler has a gas fire on the front is the pump likely to be in the recess in the fire place with the boiler or located elsewhere.
The boiler is a Glo-Worm Majorca 2.
If the pump is located behaind the gas fire can I simply lift the fir forward to obtain access to the boiler part of the system.
I look forward to any advise any of you can give.

Hi....the pump is most likely to be in the fire place opening or in a boxing at the side of the chiminey breast with all the pipework. However to draw the fire forwards it means disturbing the gas connection and should really be left for a CORGI engineer, have a look at the side of the chiminey first.

Looks like the CORGI engineer is to be called then. I just hope the fact it is a 1973 boiler won't mean I need a new one.
Don't suppose there are any engineers in Reading that want a heating job?

Around here most Backboiler system pumps are under the floor near the chimney breast, thats if its wood floors.have a stomp about and see if you can hear a loose board.
Are you getting hot water??
Do you have it serviced every year?Because the back boilers do have filters which clog up with dust and cause the gas to burn with a yellow flame.in no time the boiler is sooted solid:(:(
If its a 1973 boiler i suggest you save up for a new one as most parts on it will be obsolete.
