Ro. *Nate* 30 December 2002, 16:35 use a thin piece of perspex or something like it against the floor and press toward your skirting board , you should then be able to paint up to the perspex ...... if you haven't got any thin perspex, any thin sheet material should do (cardboard, 2L ice cream lid etc) Nate. nhoj10 30 December 2002, 20:37 HI THERE IM A SELF EMPLOYED DECORATOR FIRST THING TO DO IS HOVER CARPET CLOSE TO SKIRTING BOARD, THEN USE 2" MASKING TAPE AND THEN LAY TO CARPET EDGE PUSHING DOWN FIBERS, DO THIS ALL THE WAY AROUND ROOM THEN PAINT AWAY ,DRY OVER NIGHT THEN REMOVE TAPE HOPE THIS HELPS JOHN. S55 HOT 31 December 2002, 10:49 I bought some plastic strip things from B&Q specifically for this - they came in a pack of 10 and rach one is about a 15" long by 2" wide. They work pretty well. AllanP 31 December 2002, 19:47 Yep John is spot on, this is the best way by far. You can gently fold the tape into the gap and over the edge of the carpet with a two inch filling knife pulling it away from the wood, just make sure no carpet is exposed. Jolly Green Monster 01 January 2003, 02:19 Personnally I pull the carpet up... tried what is mentioned above but you need to be careful.. bit of perspex for example gets paint on the edge.. you move it and wipe all the paint on the carpet.. You can usually refit the carpet into a carpet grip without to much hassle.. JGM jbryant 01 January 2003, 21:15 Fat masking tape is easiest. I tried using the plastic strips but you need to leave them there until the paint dries. I'd say use the tape... Joolz dnb 01 January 2003, 22:40 I use tape like John said as well. Never got on with the plastic things. Just get the tape well pushed down the edge of the carpet, and it works. Luke 02 January 2003, 13:00 New Bright electric blue carpet!!!! White paint!! perfect finish. 1. Hoover carpet. 2-3 inch masking tape. 2.Lay tape on to carpet with 5-8mm on to skirting boards. 3.Get a large filling knife and use this to push tape down between carpet and skirting boards.Check for holes /rips etc 4. Paint and leave tape on for 8 hours min. 5. Remove tape . 6.Stand back and admire a great job..(have a wank if it pleases you) Tiggs 03 January 2003, 13:07 what...on that blue caret! |
