Skoda have finally confirmed their intention to debut a Fabia WRC in the 2003 season.
Having refused to comment on the matter previously, today a low-key statement on the Czech firm's official website about the signing of Didier Auriol for next year admitted that the Frenchman will be driving an Octavia and Fabia WRC next year.
The new Fabia WRC is expected to make its debut at Rally Argentina in May 2003.

With the success of the small cars getting more and more dominant, the need to switch to smaller cars is needed by manufacturers in order to remain competitive.
Best of luck to them. :)

I think a revamp on the name would be a good idea.
New names for the Justy anyone? :D

Well, Justy is a well known name. Subaru just needs to bring a proper car to change the image of Justy. And that excludes debadged Suzuki.......

Looks like VAG are putting much more money their way.
What with Didier, promised development and new gearbox ala Lancer WRC (Xtrac) they may be more of a force in 2004...

Recon so too.... with Ford 'looking into' the Fiesta, Mitsu 'looking - although denying' into the Colt, its only a matter of time.... I bet all the manufacturers are kicking themselves about allowing Peogeot dispensation to use the 206 with bodge on bumpers (to meet the FIA WRC Lengths)
Then again they were supposed to be going to the 307 .....
Dave R - werent you with the 'white car' bunch up in Cumbria, now Oxford... surely not defected to the 'blue car' team ;)
