Found these pelets in the roof-space of our garage (like HTF did it get up there  ) & they are about 12mm long & 4mm dia & conical shaped (start sharp, thicken out then return to sharp).

Obviously dark brown + added wee smell...

So what rodent (Rat or mouse) do they belong to? Just so that I can get the requisite poison of course...

& what is the best poison for the type found? (Commercially available ;) )

Added info. Whatever it is has been trying to dig holes in the gravel at the edge of the concrete floor & the doors but without musch joy as there is concrete below ;)

PTMW!!!!

RAT, sh!te that size is a RAT, trust me i have seen enough on my dads farm in my younger days;). Especially if you can see where the buggers been trying to get in. If you can also smell urine then its defo a RAT, as they never stop peeing.

Mice is far smaller droppings.

Problem is these days, its hard to find strong enough rat poison that YOU the DOMESTIC person can use;). Its crap the stuff you buy from most places.

I know you live darn sarf;) and commute near london, but if you can find a local agricultural hardware/supply store (large in size, ones that sell tractors and so forth;)) then they will have some rat poison available.

Be VERY careful about where you put poison, thinking of cats, dogs, and other animals, but mainly children, as i lost my dog at 14 (which was bought when i was born) due to it getting hold of some rat poison!

Dont put too much down to start with, as you need to find THEIR general cummute:D. I say THEIR as there is never just one!!. Monitor it every other day to start with, and if you are lucky you will have caught some of the buggers.

Place some near where the majority of the droppings are and where you say they are trying to enter your property. BEAR in mind what i said above though.

Cant remember the name of the stuff that my mum and dad use on the farm, NEOREXIA i think, but they have someone (old guy) come round and relocates the poison every now and again, as the rats have a tendancy to relocate elsewhere.

GOOD LUCK

Have you thought they may be squirrel turds, given that it is in the roofspace.

we had squirrels in the roof when I lived with parents, and there are currently squirrels in the roof of my GF's dads house - You can hear them scratching around.

I got rid of the ones at my parents with an air rifle, but i wouldn't do it again. I think they can nibble throgh wiring etc -but they only do it once!

Either poison them or,I could come round with my Jack Russell and Patterdale Terriers and have some fun:)
They once had 85 rats between them in a day at the pigfarms:)

Puff,

first off each morning you [or any other adult male female wee wont work] must pee in to a bottle then pour it arround the area, this will discourage them, not a wind up & only adult male wee works.

poison may not work, but a large metal rat trap will, bait, get a mars bar warm it up until soft then stick it in on the trap & then set it, the trap may need nailing down first then wait, when you do catch it, betting squrill here it may not be dead depending how its caught so be careful, you must check daily, cos if its alive it will be hurt & in pain, if its dead it will stink
