This is a Diy forum with the intention of some of us tradesmen trying to help people with their diy problems,or for people who have had similar problems/ideas and to help each other out.It IS NOT a Slagging off forum aimed at tradesmen.
I have helped out many people with plumbing and heating problems here on scoobynet and all have been very thankful for my help.

What we dont want on here is "all plumbers are ripoffs,£1000 for a tap washer etc etc".Yes there are many rip offs out there who take great pleasure at charging excessive amounts, but if your getting prices like that i suggest you ask a friend for their reccomendations.

I see many posts like this aimed/Tarring the building trade with the same brush and it annoys me.We are not all con men and ripoffs ,we just need to make a decent living for working our arses off and getting covered in s**** every day, going home with bad backs, bad knees(i have both and only 24!).

there would be uproar if we posted in the computer forum about IT workers having a easy life 9-5,suited up,pen pushing and earning 100k per year wouldnt there?

yeah your right, there probably would.

once again thankyou for the posts that you have contributed.

I think, and it happens in any walk of life, the good ones get tarred with the bad ones. It happens in my profession, accountancy.

In ANY business people will eventually come accros/heard of "cowboys" or "expensive" suppliers/professionals.

I assume, due to the fact that you are posting here, that you are respected person in your trade, otherwise you would not be FREE posting on here.

Sadly, as someone mentioned elsewhere in another thread, people dont often remember the GOOD things, they only remember bad things.

As a professional person i would try and advise you to ignore there comments, if you believe you are genuine in the work you do.

As i said in the other thread, its supply and demand, if you cant DIY then you need a professional in, and you have to pay for it. If its specialised then it generally costs more.

The sad thing, which hopefully you WILL acknowledge, ther ARE people out there that WILL take advantage of this situation, ie charge excessively for very little.

Hope to see you continuing to contribute;)

SN, fully agree with you and appreciate all input from those in the trade.

Any "slagging" threads will not be tolerated. I did consider locking the "Plumbers! Grr" thread, but there might be mileage in it.

In short, if anyone has a complaint please do use the Report to Moderator function and give us your reasons. We'll take 'em seriously.

Nick.
