The one you can buy seems to consist of : sparkplug, ht lead, coil, wire, switch,??

Since these bits can be obtained for a few quid fro the scrapyard, does anyone know how to connect them together for the desired effect?

Answers on a postcard please.

I am currently making one for a project. You will also need a multivibrator circuit to make the spark.

Will post when finished.

Any news?

Why the multivibrator circuit ? Couldn't you take a feed from the rev counter output to the coil ?

I made up a flamer kit from scrap, the only thing I need is a device for the mass feed, I have a mass wire and when I rub it against the chassis, the system works and spit flames, so now it must do that automaticly : Any body some ideas... I was thinking of a feed from the rev counter or speedo but i'm not so lusty for using the original wiring loom, more happy with some independent working device...

Tried it out the other day. Got bice blue flames and even bigger yellow ones!!

No multivibrator circuit as yet was just doing the switching myself, just wanted to make sure the spark booster electronics were working.

Do not know about the feed from the revs or what ever you were on about that is why I am making a multivibrator working at about 12KHz for a constant spark.

What sort of coil do you use, I have a Nova coil with a module on it, just rub the mass wire over the chassisand the plug start sparking, but didn't try it out for real.
It's only working with a warm engine but on what sort of revs, can I test it on standstill or should i drive around and then rub the wire ???

I do not know what coil it is, my dad picked it up along with an HT from the scrappy for me.

I have a spark booster, sparkrite 1000 (or something) that is linked across the coil ( + and - ). There is a ground coming from the sparkrite which is linked to the same ground as the sparkplug, then there is a white wire coming off the sparkrite which I have to touch to ground to discharge the coil and make the spark (when the 12v battery is connected across the coil of course)

I will be linking this white wire to the astable multivibrator to give me the constant on/off pulse. The power to the multivibrator will be linked through a switch which will be in the cockpit.

When I was testing mine I just stuck the plug in the pipe on a bit of copper wire (which i am using as the ground to the plug) and revved it. I got the blue flame at high revs and the really big yellow one when I held it at about 2/2.5k and jabbed the throttle (not held) this squirts a load of fuel in and the flame can last a while (2-5 secs in my case)

Hope this is of some help, mail me for more info if you want.

Any chance of a photo / wiring diagram? Sounds like it's nearly sorted.

Still busy to make the activator that will send signals to the coil for activating the plug, you will hear it as soon as it make flames...
