This is sad, but the house I live in now actually came built with network points in every room.

Hey, that's my stock answer :D . Server in loft needs to be able to dump data fast enough to the player in the lounge :)

Plus I need to access all the large data files on the server ;)

11Mbit is fine for MP3 audio streaming :)

true and as your internet connection is 56k it doesnt matter though.
