Metzler ME01s used to be the dogs for those...

Is that a GPX750 or a GPZ750R ?

The GPZ750 I believe had ceased production by then, but I could be wrong.

Used to have an '84 GPZ750R - loved it to bits but also broke my thumb on it

Edit to say :o Just re-read the air-cooled bit. I thought they'd ceased production. Reason? Well not many being despatched. GT750s of that era, yes but not GPZs.

Just acquired one of these ('88 aircooled) to use as a back up for my commute to work. Needs a bit of work, but should see me on the road for about £125 all in.

It will soon need some tyres-anyone recommend a brand. Mind you, they are just sooo skinny-should be fun!

Log book says GPZ-A5 registered in July 1988. As the V5 has been sent off, I don't have the engine number on me. Can't say too much about it to identify it. Has Unitrack rear, the full fairing conversion, and the LCD display for fuel etc. is on the top of the tank (not with the clocks).

I believe there was (is) a difference between GPZ and GPz (apart from the capital Z). Don't know much about Kwackers (had an H1A in about '78), as GSX-R's are my usual bikes. Excuse my ignorance!

Like Puff said, the ME(Z?)01's were good for those rims but Bridgestone do some good tyres for old (small) rims, I just can't remember what they are.

The GPz was the air cooled range and the GPZ was the watercooled ones. I nearly bought one of those GPz750's but went for an older Z1000J at the time ('cos I was a skint student ;)). As usual for most bikes, you'll find the fuel gauge stays full for about 1/3rd of a tank, then rapidly drops to nearly empty and then stays there for aboout the last 1/3rd of a tank ;);)

They also were quite well know for the Oil Warning light flashing when there was nothing wrong with either the Oil Level or the pressure so don't panic (too much ;)) if this happens to you.

Ta,

Matt :)
