I have recently purchased a MY94 Saloon which unfortunately I have had a few 'teething' problems with (involving engine out for inspection/remedy). All have so far been dealt with by the garage I bought it from (not a main dealer) under warranty. However it has dented my confidence in the reliability/robustness of the car, which judging by the vast majority of opinion here and elsewhere (JD Power etc.) makes me the minority.

I would be interested in having the car fully inspected/tested by someone who has more than a passing knowledge of the oily bits of an impreza so that any problems can be bought to light whilst I still have a warranty. I live in Suffolk so am not overwhelmed with local dealers. The nearest - 'Osbournes' in Colchester have held the Subaru franchise for only a few months so so whilst they may be a very good dealer I don't see them having years of experience of what may go wrong.

Has anyone had such an inpsection by a dealer or specialist who they would recommend ? An indication of the likely cost would be helpful as well.

There is a subaru dealer in Hailey near Witney about 15 miles west of Oxford. I seen them whilst travelling on business. They have loads of cars in and are very knowlegeable and helpful. Look to be well established. I'd certainly try them myself if I lived anywhere in the locality. Maybe somebody else knows the name - If not I should have the details sculling around somewhere if its close enough for you!
