Question

what do you reckon guys? Currently piloting an Mcoupe which is absoloutly fantastic but i want something really silly whilst i can before any rugrats come along!

Noble GTO
Esprit V8
993 turbo4
355
Tuned skyline r32

Or i could spend on the BM getting it supercharged to 450bhp with ACSchnitzer susp and some mad stoppers etc.

If you don't *need* a car and do very low mileage, then the 355, but they are very expensive and not overly reliable (although far better than Ferrari's of old).

If you need a reliable car, then you can't beat the 993 Turbo4. Blindingly quick, surefooted, well built and still a real head turner.

Can't beleive you even mentioned a skyline in the same breath as a 355 and 993 T4

Why the talk of 40-50k motors, then at the bottom a cheap r32 - I cannot see that being any better than what you have already.

What about an NSX?

Two of the guys here have 355 Spiders and I must say I love them to pieces...great sound in the morning. I have yet to drive them but drove his last car a 993 Turbo.

Personnal opinion is if you can afford the Ferrari and a second run around then do it and now.

If not then go for the Porker. Ferrari as an everyday car I don't think so. Also everybody says a Ferrari is a nightmere to maintain.

Not true the guys here have there looked after by a specialist in Ascot who are ex main dealer chaps and the cost is 70% cheaper than a main agent...

Hope this helps

I agree, go for the Ferrari if you can afford the daft maintainance costs (1k services...). I speak from some experience here as my Dad has a 355 and, lucky git, I've driven it a few times.

It is an absultultely stupendous car in every way, and is reliable and comfortable enough to use everyday if you must.

The only negative point in my opinion, especialy if you are into fast cars, is that they are not thunderously fast, just very fast of a similar nature to an Impreza Sti Type R up to about 80mph, then its bye bye scooby. They pile on speed at a surprising rate at high speed because the aerodynamics are excellent, but they are slower than the Esprit V8 and the 911 turbo. The noise, looks and handling make up for it this tenfold though!!

355 is one of my fave cars of all time. Other than that, a Noble looks like good fun.

Thanks for the replies so far.

mmm, looks like the 911 is the best bet so far. It will be a once in a lifetime car which i'll have for about 7/9 months then i'll get an M5 methinks.

I'd pobabbly say i want the ferrari most but is it really up to doing over 1,400 miles a month?

BUT! That turbo in arena red makes me go weak at the knees!

Physically - yes. I know people that have down South of France and back, or Italy and back in a week (ie 3000 miles in a week).

Realistically - no If you *need* to do any mileage, you can't risk a Ferrari - unfortunately Plus servicing will kill, and the value of a car after 9 months at 1400miles/months will cripple you further

If you can afford to get a second runabout and use the Ferrari as a play thing, then a resounding yes.

My shoes? - if it has to be one car... 911 Turbo4, but go for an older, LHD 355 and you would be able to afford a reliable 3/4 yr old BMW 328 as a runabout as well!!
