My fricking scoop has been vandalised *again* - 3rd time now. The feckers where unable to pull it off the bonnet and hence it's now in bits.

As far as I see it, have got two options:
a) flog car and buy something without an obvious scoop, GTB Legacy anyone ?
b) fit FMIC and fill over the scoops hole in the bonnet

Getting seriously fed of this images/smilies/mad.gif

Miles,

Really sorry to hear this mate, I can't believe this is your 3rd one. :(
This has got to be the work of the same person/group. images/smilies/mad.gif

I think we should go around and stand on the Nova/Corsa boys bonnets, damage thier pride and joy and hand back the scoobs free to Scooby owners.
I sure there are Nova/Corsa boys that go to a breakers yard and buy them, but I'm sure there are others that don't.

See if I catch some Monkey standing on my bonnet I can guarantee he'll be limping for the rest of his life.

Rob.

Miles,

that's f*****g awful.

Is anything else damaged?

How about fitting/making up a splitter for the scoop. Make the fins razor sharp, but not too visible - just right for these little scrotes to grab the next time.

Mike.

Razor blades have been suggested before. Although these days I'd be sued probably....

FMIC seems the best option at the moment :D

A Clifford with a proximity sensor would be woth considering, if the damage is being done outside your house :(

Believe me I know how you feel images/smilies/mad.gif someone kicked off one of my door mirrors last week leaving another dent on the door images/smilies/mad.gif yet another entry in the list of damage that has been done to my car.

images/smilies/mad.gif sympathies mate - I too know the feeling. My car's been vandalised 4 times now... images/smilies/mad.gif

A FMIC may be the answer - or better still a garage!...

Get a 33kv cable ran from the nearest pylon attached to the bonnet then make toast of 'em.

I wouldn't sell the car but I'd make sure you take precaution's in where the car is parked and how the new scoop is fitted. The Clifford option is worth thinking off too.

It is obviously the in thing at the moment in Aberdeen, work colleague with DBM has also had three front scoops, and recently the rear spoiler nicked also an attempt to get his mirrors, all in the space of 6 months and all while parked in a very well lit prominent street in town. He has now decided not to replace any of the stolen parts again. Wouldnt it be nice to catch these people !.

It would be very nice to catch these people.

Thing is, they are probably spending hundreds of pounds on a lurid yellow/pink re-spray, or at least a lot of time and effort cutting their existing bonnet to accomodate the Impreza one. Why don't they simply buy a new one to get a better result, or even buy one of the cheap copies available from Halfords for about £20, which doesn't involve bonnet cutting.

Miles - go for the FMIC and sport bonnet :)

Bob.C - does your mate stay on the south side of town. I've seen a DBM 4dr near me missing its scoop and rear wing :(

Autosonic in Aberdeen can do an addon to my present alarm system for about 120quid, but as my missus has pointed out that the local kids will be attracted to it.... The car was parked right outside my house which according to my insurance company was in a *really* safe area. Grrrr.....

FFS, Checkpoint in Aberdeen sell looky-likeys for 40quid. Fecking neds.

I was in the same situation, do I get the add on, while being told that the kids will keep setting it off.
A talking one would certainly attract the kids attention, but if you can get a more discrete add on, like a loud bleep or something, it might be worth considering.
It might be worth while getting one that is adjustable, where you can turn it down or off during the day, if kids are setting it off, then turning it on at night when all the kids have went to bed.
I have had one proximity warning in the middle of the night, and when I looked out the window, sure enough, two guys were trying to take my spoiler off. I had the pleasure of shouting some serious abuse at them, before getting down stairs and out the front door, by that time they were away :(
Also, if you seriously want to keep the car, what about a CCTV system?

WillieF
19 November 2002, 20:15
Bar stewards....

FMIC is the way to go... CCTV will do very little unfortuneatly in my experience... we had CCTV looking after our company vans one night and although we have photographic evidence of some wee ned trying to nick the van (he was a complete plonker as he didn't even look in the back of then van which had two hilti drills)
The police although interested couldn't do anything because he was under 16...

CCTV is great for catching us speeding and that is it :(

It would be very nice to catch these people.

I'm not so sure....

The last time my car was done, a 16 year old scrote smashed one of my rear windows.

What he didn't realise was there was a police car sitting right behind him at the time!

I was phoned by the police and came out to the car. (Obviously I hadn't actually heard the event happening :()

Imagine my mixed feelings of:
- anger (that it happened)
- satisfaction (that he was caught in the act)
- and frustration (that I couldn't "discuss" it with him myself)

Still not been paid for it... images/smilies/mad.gif

Barstewards  :(

When I lived in Aberdeen my car used to get it's wipers lifted, it's ariel bent and even had it's grill kicked in and that was a £500 Sierra

I was at Uni and lived in a student area - some folk have no respect for other people's property. Not suggesting it is students, but it could be them as much as the Nova posse...

I thought you were down by the Dee - Deffo time to think about moving....how about sunny Porlethen :p or is this just an excuse to get the missus to let you have a FMIC ;) ;)

this is getting worse everywhere ask crush just a few days ago once of the evo members had their tommi spoiler ripped off their boot , these people deserve to be mutilated

i'd give "sunny" portlethen a mis cos i had to sell my pride and joy due to the fact it was costing me a damn fortune to replace all the bits that was nicked damaged on my baby, for eg............
2mirrors, 2 lower fogs, head light, boot spoiler, rear door dented and scratched, bonnet scoop broken in half, grill nicked, plus loads of scratches. f****N tossers i'd love to put a scoop on their fore head using a 9 iron.. i personally think they should all have a sharp knife inserted in the back of their necks and the nerve endings cut to the brain and then their spine pulled out from their ass.or maybe thats just me, i took it a bit personally though

cheers kev :)

Is this a craze particular to Aberdeen or just an unfortunate downside of Impreza ownership no matter where you live?
