View Full Version : tesco is the best! swishboy 18 November 2002, 13:29 I'm 22 have four years no claims and have a quote from tesco for a MY02 WRX STI for £120 a month not bad for that car! ;) GaryCat 18 November 2002, 13:32 Unless you want to mod it. I was stung for £99 at the weekend for putting a scoobysport exhaust on. Thats almost 18% of my premium for a few more bhp and a good noise. swishboy 18 November 2002, 14:15 was that with tesco mate? as i had a saxo vtr modded and it wsn't too bad compared with others. fdpxfunix 18 November 2002, 14:32 GaryCat I put a Prodrive BB onto my standard My99 wagon at the weekend. It's just cost me an extra £45.15 with Tesco. I made it clear that the power increase was minimal (2-5% if at all) and I'd carried out the "mod" for sound and looks, but the guy on the phone said the cost would cover me for upto a 10% increase in total power via an exhaust ! (He did not state just BB or full system. I'll have to check my policy when it arrives) I'm 32, fully comp, no claims, driving since 87, got a tracker and live in a low insurance area. Could this be why mine was a 1/2 the price of yours? I was expecting somewhere around £70-£80. J. TonyBurns 19 November 2002, 21:14 Swish, Not bad but is that fully comprehensive insurance? if so whats the excess on that?? Tony:D PS found tesco's to be expensive compared to my insurer now by silly ammounts  MelTypeR 20 November 2002, 18:58 My renewal is up at the end of the month and tesco quoted my £2200 and i'm 26 with 6 NCB. A full £300 more than my renewal and that was with my other half on it. Time to shop around i thinks. Mel swishboy 21 November 2002, 06:38 hi tony Yeah fully comp, excess £450 but i'm not gonna crash it so why not, now thinking i gotta have the MYO3 STI so doubt insurance will be any different. Also i had my 17 bro who only passed his test the other day on my current car, upon getting a quote for my new scooby they added him on and of course i was a bit shocked at a possible £400 a month insurance. I was although impressed that they would of insured a 17 year old without even a years driving experience on a MY02 WRX STI. So in a way i reckon thats not bad ;) lol I do believe tesco does do some of the cheapest quotes for under 25's, so depends on your age too the max saving. Looking forward to going to some scooby meets and will be up for the plymouth meets in the new year when I get my scooby. pslewis 21 November 2002, 12:17 TESCO is USELESS for a 72 year old - £750!!!! When Churchill is £360  Pete paulthompson 21 November 2002, 16:33 Swishboy Superb recommendation, I got a quote from Adrain Flux for £2970 after been refused by directline and quite a few others. Tried Tesco, cos I'm also 22 with a MY2002 got an excellent £1100 quote (£600 excess though but who's complaining!!!) Cheers chrisjEVO6 21 November 2002, 18:12 try liverpool victoria on 0800864865 very good beat every one by 400 quid at least no tracker thats on a evo6 P20SPD 22 November 2002, 16:06 not wishing to pi55 on your bonfire, i was with them this time last year, due to the price offered. Wrote my car off in February (simple overtaking manouver went wrong when someone i was overtaking pulled out!) They agreed value of the car within 3 days, great....... ............shame it took them another 2.5 to 3 months to pay out!! got sick of hearing "cheque has been authorised its in the post sir" threatened to go knock on their office door and wait for the cheque, it suddenly arrived then. Very cheap i agree, but a pain in the ass TBH. Dont assume you "wont" have an accident, because you never know! Patt@firstime 26 November 2002, 12:33 Was with Tesco few months ago paying £2800 on a P1, nearest quote after Tesco was £5000!!!! Before you all fall off your chairs I'm 21 with no NCB, so it's my own fault! Matt :p T5NYW 27 November 2002, 14:22 Tesco's were last year giving me the best quotes but this renewal time the rates have gone up  MY02STi7UK lowered(by dealer from new) and now PPP :D:D:D 47yr, parked on drive, 7yrs NCB, No convictions TESCO Basic £596.40 NC protection £101.85 Motor legal Pro £16.80 Total £715.05 Liverpool Victoria Total £621.24p Tony Turboteeth 27 November 2002, 21:30 I am with Tesco, paid £860 this year (23 year old, 5 years NCB). Sadly I rolled my 1996 Turbo Sunday before last, but they have already inspected the car and made me a reasonably sensible offer. So not only are they cheap, but they look like a pretty safe bet if you need to claim as well :) |
